You see, that there 1985 GSX-R750, that’s a real good bike, a real good one. Back in my day, wasn’t nothin’ like it. Nineteen eighty-five, that was the year, I remember it like it was yesterday. That bike, it came out, and everyone was talkin’ ’bout it.

They called it a “superbike,” this 1985 GSX-R750. First one ever, they said. It was fast, I tell ya. Over 100 horsepower! Imagine that, a hundred horses all packed into that one machine. That bike could go, like nothing else on the road. It was made for racing that Suzuki GSX-R750.
Folks were sayin’ it had a special engine, all fancy and new. Oil-cooled, they called it. And somethin’ called “SACS” and “TSCC.” I don’t know what all those letters mean, but it made that engine powerful. This GSXR750 had a new kind of engine, you see, different from the others, that make it a good bike.
And light! Land sakes, that 1985 GSX-R750 was light as a feather, almost. Less than 180 kg, they said. That’s why it could go so fast, you see. Less weight means more speed. It is that simple, even I can understand it. All the other bikes back then, they were heavy, like old farm tractors. But this one, it was different. That’s what made it special, this Suzuki GSX-R750. That’s why it was so good at racin’.
- 1985 GSX-R750: First superbike, they called it.
- Over 100 hp power output, that’s a lot of horses.
- Less than 180 kg, light as a feather, almost.
- Oil-cooled engine with fancy “SACS” and “TSCC” things.
- 1985 Suzuki GSXR, all the young folks wanted one.
I remember seeing that 1985 GSX-R750 in a magazine. Red and black, it was. Looked like a rocket, it did. All sleek and shiny, and that engine, they had a big picture of it. It was like a revolution, that’s what the young folks called it, a new design engine and frame for the 1985 Suzuki GSXR.
And that frame, oh boy, that was somethin’ else. They used some fancy metal, called it “alloy,” I think. Made the whole bike strong but light. And the way it leaned into the corners! They said it could lean over 55 degrees. I don’t know much about degrees, but I know that’s a lot of leanin’ for a bike. 1985 Gsxr 750 Specs, that’s what the young folks would talk about all day. That was a bike you could lean into a turn like you wouldn’t believe.

Everyone wanted one of them GSX-R750s, especially the young folks. They’d save up all their money, just to buy one. They loved that bike, they really did. That 1985 GSX-R750, it was a dream machine. It was affordable, they said. For a racin’ bike, that is. I mean, it wasn’t cheap, but you got a lot for your money, they always said.
And you know what? That bike, it changed everything. After that 1985 GSX-R750 came out, all the other bike makers, they had to try and keep up. They all started making lighter bikes, faster bikes. It is a big deal, the 1985 Suzuki GSXR. They all started tryin’ to copy that Suzuki, you see. But there’s nothin’ like the original, no sir. That 1985 GSX-R750, it was the first, and it was the best.
Now, I heard some folks say that bikes got heavier again, after a while. I don’t know why they’d do that, seems like light is better. But that 1985 GSX-R750, it showed ’em what was possible. It was a game changer, as they say. People still talk about that 1985 Suzuki GSXR. Gsxr750 Model History, there are books about it, I reckon.
There was a fella, I heard, he searched for years and years, just to find one of them old 1985 GSX-R750s. Found one, too, but it was all beat up. Previous owner didn’t take care of it, chopped it all up. Shame, that. A bike like that, it deserves to be treated right, you know. That 1985 Suzuki GSXR, that a good bike, even now, people still want it.
They even made a book about that bike, the GSX-R750, a whole book, 30 years of it! They call it the “Slabside”, this 1985 Suzuki GSXR, I don’t know why. But it’s a legend, that bike. A real legend. They don’t make ’em like that anymore. Nope. That 1985 GSX-R750, that was somethin’ special. Somethin’ real special.
