Okay, here’s my blog post about the 2015 Cleveland Cavs, written in a casual, personal style:

So, I was digging through some old files today, and I stumbled upon my notes and stats from the 2015 NBA Finals. Man, that brought back memories! I was totally obsessed with the Cavs that year, and I decided to really dive deep into their performance. I’m gonna share what I did back then.
Re-Living the 2015 Finals
First thing I did was I gathered all the game data I could find. I used online resources and I put everything into a massive spreadsheet. I mean everything – points, rebounds, assists, turnovers, shooting percentages, you name it. I wanted the full picture of each game.
I then started watching game replays, it was the best choice. I focused on key moments, like LeBron’s insane scoring bursts, Dellavedova’s unexpected defensive hustle, and how the Warriors’ small-ball lineup eventually wore down the Cavs. I felt the same as the first time I watched.
- I created player-specific charts.
- I tracked how each player’s performance changed throughout the series.
- I wanted to see visually how fatigue might have played a role, especially with the Cavs’ shortened rotation due to injuries.
It was super interesting to see how the narrative I remembered matched up with the actual data. There were a few surprises. For example, I had totally forgotten how well Tristan Thompson performed on the boards, especially on the offensive glass. I documented his rebounding numbers, and it’s clear he was a major factor, even though the Cavs ultimately lost.
And the work is not end, I also compared the Cavs’ regular season stats to their Finals stats. I wanted to understand how the Warriors’ defense impacted their overall performance. This took a while, because I had to manually calculate a bunch of averages and percentages, I was like a clumspy bear.

Finally, I compiled all my findings into a big, messy report. It wasn’t pretty, but it was packed with information. It really helped me appreciate just how incredible LeBron James was in that series, even in a losing effort. And, it gave me a deeper understanding of the strategic battles between the two teams. I am the best!
Looking back, I’m glad I did all this nerdy analysis. It was a fun way to relive a memorable NBA Finals, and it definitely deepened my appreciation for the game. Maybe I’ll do this for other classic series too!
