Alright, so I decided to see what my Ducati Desert Sled could really do. I’ve had this bike for a while, and I’ve always been curious about its top speed. I mean, it’s a scrambler, not a race bike, but still… a guy’s gotta know, right?

The Prep
First things first, I made sure the bike was in good shape. I checked the tire pressure, made sure the chain was lubed, and gave it a quick once-over. I didn’t want any surprises when I was pushing it.
I picked a long, straight stretch of road that was pretty much deserted. It was early morning, so there was hardly any traffic. Safety first, you know? I put on my helmet, jacket, everything.
The Run
- I started off slow, getting a feel for the road and the bike.
- Then, I started to open it up. The engine roared, and the wind started whipping past me.
- The Desert Sled felt solid, even at higher speeds. It’s not the smoothest ride, but it’s definitely stable.
- I kept pushing it, watching the speedometer climb. It went up pretty quick at first, then started to slow down as I got closer to the top end.
- It is really exciting, to be honest.
The Result
So, what did I hit? I managed to get it up to around 190 km/h. I’ve heard some people say they’ve gotten it higher, but that’s what I got on that day, on that road. Honestly, it felt plenty fast. The wind was insane, and the bike felt like it was working pretty hard.
I backed off after that. No need to push it any further. I’m not trying to break any records, just wanted to see what it could do.
Would I recommend doing this all the time? Nope. It’s a scrambler, it’s meant for fun, not for setting speed records. But it was a cool experience, and I’m glad I did it. It’s good to know what your bike is capable of, even if you don’t use that capability all the time.
