Alright, so I finally got around to checking out this Lego Ninjago thing in Fortnite. Been hearing whispers about it, you know, how they’re mixing Lego with the Fortnite world, and Ninjago’s always been a bit of a soft spot, reminds me of when the kids were smaller, always watching those ninjas spin around.
Getting Started with It
So, I booted up Fortnite the other day. Honestly, I hadn’t played in a bit, so there was the usual round of updates, which, you know, always takes a minute. Once that was done, I poked around the main screen. Wasn’t immediately obvious where the Lego Ninjago stuff was. I thought it might be a special event or something right on the front page, but no. I actually had to go into the game mode selection. Found the ‘LEGO Fortnite’ mode, and figured that had to be it. Selected that, and then it dropped me into this whole new Lego world. It’s not just Ninjago, it’s like, all Lego, which was a bit of a surprise at first.
Finding the Ninjago Bits
Once I was in the Lego Fortnite world, I started exploring. It’s pretty cool, everything’s made of Lego bricks, even the trees and rocks. It’s got that survival-crafting feel, you know? Chop wood, collect resources, build stuff. I was looking specifically for the Ninjago characters or themed areas. Took me a while, but I realized the Ninjago stuff isn’t like a separate land. It’s more about the skins and some items you can get or craft. I saw some other players running around as Lego Kai and Lego Lloyd, which was pretty neat. I had to check the item shop later to see if I could grab one myself. They look pretty much like you’d expect, like the actual Lego minifigures, but moving around in the game.
The Actual Gameplay Experience
So, playing as a Lego character in this blocky world is kinda fun. The building mechanics are all Lego-based, which is a nice touch. Snapping pieces together to make a shelter or tools feels quite intuitive if you’ve ever played with Lego. I spent a good chunk of time just gathering materials – “plastic” from breaking down Lego plants, “wood” from Lego trees. It’s that familiar loop. As for the Ninjago part specifically, when you have a Ninjago skin, it’s mostly cosmetic, but it definitely adds to the fun. I didn’t find any specific Ninjago quests popping up right away, it seemed more integrated into the general Lego Fortnite experience. Maybe there are special blueprints or items deeper in, I haven’t gotten that far yet.
I did run into some Lego Skeletons, which felt a bit Ninjago-esque, like the old bad guys. Fighting them with Lego weapons was… interesting. Everything shatters into bricks when defeated. Pretty satisfying, actually.
What I Reckon So Far
Overall, it’s a neat idea. Combining the Fortnite platform with the Lego aesthetic works surprisingly well. It’s definitely a different pace from the main Battle Royale. More chill, more about building and exploring. The Ninjago elements, mostly through the character skins I’ve seen, are a cool nod for fans. I was kinda hoping for more direct Ninjago story stuff, like a dedicated island or quests given by Sensei Wu or something, but maybe that’s just me being an old fan.
It’s less “Ninjago takes over Fortnite” and more “Ninjago characters can visit this new Lego world within Fortnite.” Still, I spent a good few hours just messing around, building a little shack, and trying not to get beaten up by Lego spiders. It’s a decent way to spend an afternoon, especially if you like Lego. I’ll probably hop back in to see if I can unlock more stuff or find more specific Ninjago content as I progress. It’s definitely something different for Fortnite, and I can see the appeal, especially for younger players or anyone who enjoys that creative, block-building vibe.
