Alright, so I was messing around yesterday, trying to dig up some baseball stats. Figured I’d take a crack at finding some info on Dave Righetti. You know, just for fun.

First thing I did was hit up the usual suspects – Google, of course. Typed in “dave righetti stats” and bam! A bunch of links popped up.
- * was the first hit. Always a solid place to start, right?
- Then there was *. That site’s a goldmine.
- ESPN showed up too. Gotta check the big names.
I clicked on the Baseball-Reference link first. That site is usually pretty detailed. I scrolled down and found his pitching stats, broken down by year. It had everything – wins, losses, ERA, strikeouts, all that good stuff.
Here’s what I noticed right away:
- His ERA was pretty solid for a reliever, especially in his prime.
- He racked up a bunch of saves in the mid-80s.
- He even had that no-hitter! Freaking awesome.
Next, I hopped over to *. Their layout’s a bit cleaner, so it’s good for a quick overview. I compared the stats with Baseball-Reference, and they matched up, which is always reassuring. I wanted to see if they had any cool video highlights. Sadly, no luck there.
Then I checked ESPN. They had a decent player profile, but nothing I hadn’t already seen. Just the basic stats and a short bio. Oh well.

Deeper Dive
I wasn’t quite satisfied, so I decided to try and find some more obscure stats. Like, maybe his splits against lefties versus righties, or his stats in high-leverage situations. Baseball-Reference had some of that data, but it was a bit buried.
I ended up using their play index tool. It lets you filter stats in all sorts of crazy ways. I spent a good half hour messing around with it, trying to find interesting nuggets. I discovered that Righetti was actually tougher on right-handed hitters than lefties, which I wouldn’t have guessed.
The Takeaway
Honestly, it was just a fun little data-digging exercise. Nothing groundbreaking, but it reminded me how much info is out there if you’re willing to look for it. Plus, it’s always cool to revisit the careers of some of these old-school players.
So yeah, that’s how I spent part of my afternoon. Just nerding out over Dave Righetti’s stats. Hope you found that mildly entertaining!
