Alright, so today I’m gonna walk you through my little experiment with Archie Goodwin Kentucky. I’ve been hearing buzz about it online, and figured, hey, why not give it a shot? I like diving headfirst into these things, so here’s the lowdown on how it went.

First off, I started by actually finding some Archie Goodwin Kentucky. Wasn’t as easy as walking into a store, believe me. Had to do some digging online, check out a few different places. Finally tracked it down at some obscure online retailer. Scored a bottle, felt like I’d won the lottery.
Once I had the goods, the fun really began. Now, I’m not a fancy mixologist or anything, but I do like to mess around with different cocktails. I decided to try it neat first, just to get a sense of what I was working with. Poured myself a small glass, gave it a swirl, took a sniff. Not bad, not bad at all.
The taste was definitely…unique. It’s got that Kentucky bourbon kick, but with something extra. A little spice, a little sweetness, hard to put my finger on exactly what. Definitely more complex than your average bourbon. So after that, I started thinking about cocktails. Old Fashioned? Manhattan? The possibilities seemed endless.
I ended up going with an Old Fashioned. Classic, you know? Figured it would be a good way to see how Archie Goodwin played with the other ingredients. Muddled some sugar with bitters, added the bourbon, a big ice cube, and an orange peel. Gave it a good stir.
Honestly, the Old Fashioned was pretty damn good. The bourbon really stood out, held its own against the sweetness of the sugar and the bitterness of the bitters. I tried a few other cocktails too – a Boulevardier, a Mint Julep – just to see how versatile this stuff was. The Boulevardier was a winner. The Mint Julep, not so much. I think the mint overpowered the bourbon a bit.
But here’s the thing. Archie Goodwin is interesting, but it’s pricey. I wouldn’t use it to mix drinks all night, every night. I think it really shines on its own, or in cocktails where the bourbon is the star. If you are looking to impress someone or want to treat yourself, it’s not bad at all.
All in all, I’d say the Archie Goodwin Kentucky experiment was a success. I learned a thing or two about bourbon, and I discovered a new favorite to sip on. Would I buy it again? Probably, but only for special occasions. It’s a nice treat, but not an everyday kind of drink. So, there you have it – my little adventure. Hope you enjoyed the ride!
