So today I decided to try recreating that Uriah Hall knockout on Adam Cella during my sparring session. Been watching that clip on loop all week. Crazy how Hall just flicked that spinning hook kick outta nowhere, right?

Getting Started
First thing I did was drag my heavy bag to the center of the garage. Cleared away some junk – almost tripped over a dumbbell. Put on my crusty old MMA gloves too, the ones with the torn thumb padding.
Started slow:
- Practiced switching stances like Hall does
- Tried pivoting on my lead foot five, six times
- Kept stumbling when I tried to spin fast
Right ankle was popping like crazy. Old basketball injury acting up again.
The Messy Part
After like twenty tries, finally got the rotation semi-decent. But timing was awful:
- Kicked too early – completely missed the bag
- Kicked too late – lost balance and bashed into the dryer
- When I did connect, kept hitting with my shin instead of the heel
Left a nasty purple bruise on my leg. Gave up and chugged some water sweating buckets.
Remembered Hall plants super deep before spinning. Tried bending my knees more – felt like a baby giraffe learning to walk. My training partner walked in laughing his ass off.
Minor Victory
Around attempt thirty something, something clicked:
- Bounced twice like Hall does
- Whip-spun while keeping eyes on target
- Threw hips forward last second
THWACK! Hit dead center of the bag with my heel! The whole bag swung sideways and smacked the wall. Neighbors probably think I’m murdering someone in here.

Couldn’t replicate it again though. My hip flexors started screaming. Called it quits after pulling something in my groin area. Worth it for that one clean kick.
Pro tip: don’t try this in sneakers on concrete floors. Almost ate shit three times.
