Alright folks, let’s get into my NASCAR sim practice yesterday. Totally focused on cracking Kyle Busch’s rough day at the Hollywood Casino 400. Saw the headline, felt that sting, wanted to feel it myself in the rig. Here’s how it went down.

Fired up my racing sim. Picked Kyle’s car skin for Kansas. Weather set hot, just like race day. Started middle of the pack. Felt good early. Pushed hard, found a rhythm. Lap 15, saw a gap and absolutely blew past Blaney on the inside. Heart was pumpin’ – felt like that win was possible.
Then… Yeah, Then It Hit The Fan
Hit Lap 40 or so. Front end started pushing. Heavy. Like driving through mud. Couldn’t get the nose down into the corners like before. Every lap, the gap to the leaders just kept growing. Felt myself white-knuckling the wheel.
- Struggled like hell through traffic. Every car felt like a wall.
- Bounced off Turn 4 wall – minor damage, but killed momentum.
- Pitted early, begged for adjustments: “More front grip, please!” Crew sent me out. Helped… a bit.
Radio crackled, just like Kyle’s probably did. Hear my own voice echoing: “It’s just junk, man. Zero grip. Can’t do anything.” Sounds dramatic, but honestly, that’s exactly what I yelled. Pure frustration pouring out.
Second half was damage control. Riding around. Trying not to wreck again. Saw the leaders blow past my windshield over and over. Pitted late again, took four tires. Changed the wedge. Helped a little, but the track was worn out. Tires felt greasy. Prayed for a caution that never came.
Finally Crossed The (Simulated) Finish Line
Checked the standings. Finished 23rd. Glared at the screen. It sucked. That sinking feeling Kyle talked about? Yep, nailed that. Walked away from the rig needing a cold drink and some time to process. Why couldn’t we find the speed later? Was it setup? Me? Bad luck? Needed a debrief with “my crew” (aka my notebook). Wrote down everything – tire temps felt off late, car too tight rolling center even after adjustments… the whole mess.

The brutal honesty part? Sim made it crystal clear. One hot lap doesn’t win it. Consistency crumbled. Adjustments didn’t land right. Felt fast early, fell off a cliff. Now I get why Kyle was livid. Gotta solve that cliff.
