So yesterday I got this urge to watch something actually good, you know? Not just scrolling forever. And I remembered Chloe Chu talking about her faves ages ago. Figured, heck, if she picks ’em as exciting, maybe they’ll actually get my pulse up. Grabbed my notebook – cause I write everything down, old habit – plopped down on my slightly-too-lumpy couch, and decided to hunt down exactly what her top three were supposed to be.
Starting the Search Slog
First thing was digging through her old stuff. Interviews, maybe a panel chat someone clipped? Took forever! Ended up reading through some fan forum thing where people were arguing about it. Some said one movie, some said another. Nobody could bloody agree! This one dude kept talking about bugs in a movie… weird. Almost gave up, to be honest. Then I stumbled on a Q&A video where she straight up named them. Finally! Screen grabbed that part just to be safe.
The Actual Watchathon
Made some seriously dumb popcorn – way too much salt, obviously. Here’s what I sat through, in order:
- Movie 1: Fired it up. Okay, cool explosions in the first ten minutes. Thought I was onto a winner. Then… people started talking about their feelings for like half an hour? Felt like a trap! Where was the exciting part Chloe promised? My butt went numb around here.
- Movie 2: Started real strong. Crazy car chase right off the bat. Got pumped! Leaned forward. Spilled popcorn everywhere. Then… aliens showed up? Didn’t remember that being in Chloe’s little chat. Spent the next hour trying to figure out if I clicked the right film. Weird energy shift. Got confusing fast.
- Movie 3: By this point, it was getting late. I was yawning, eyes gritty. Really doubting the ‘exciting’ label. Started kind of slow and quiet. Almost switched it off. Then, boom! Someone actually smashed a chair over someone’s head! Didn’t see that coming! Ended up being this weirdly tense standoff thing. Actually sat up straight for this one. Definitely felt the excitement hit.
Post-Watch Couch Collapse
Finished Movie 3 past midnight. Neck ache from craning. Couch crumbs everywhere. Notebook pages scribbled with notes like “why aliens???” and “chair scene good.”
So Chloe’s top three? Honestly? Bit all over the place, just like digging through her stuff online. Movie 1 was bait-and-switch excitement. Movie 2 felt like a weird sci-fi detour nobody warned me about. Movie 3 surprised me – that one actually lived up to the hype. Maybe two outta three ain’t bad? But man, I expected more consistent adrenaline from her ‘most exciting’ picks. Glad I wrote it down. Won’t be rewatching that alien flick though, not a chance.
