And boom! Bugger all. Just blank spaces or rows of ‘TBC’ staring back. Nothin’ confirmed. Next match details? Nada. Zip. Clicks on that link felt useless.
Felt Annoyed, Tried Somewhere Else
Fine. Website was rubbish today. Had another brainwave: check the league tables! Sometimes they list upcoming games clearly on the league site. So, searched for the league Chertsey plays in. Found the league’s official site. Browsed around looking for the fixture list.
Hit the fixtures section again. Scrolled down, eyes scanning for ‘Chertsey Town’. Saw team names flying by… A team here… B team there… Got a bit cross-eyed honestly. Then, finally, spotted ‘Chertsey Town FC’. But… the details looked messy. Opponent listed, sure, but the location? Just said something vague like ‘Home’ or showed the opponent’s ground name? Date was a maybe, time? Forget about it, often missing.
So I was getting nowhere fast. Sites were either bare bones or confusing. Needed a clearer plan.
Took a Breath, Went Deeper
Took a sip of tea. Swore under my breath. Okay. Decided to be smarter. Thought, “What about club social media?” Clubs usually shout about the next game there. So, opened Facebook, found the official Chertsey Town FC page. Scrolled through their posts.
And bingo! Found it. There it was. A post, probably from a day or two ago, probably with a nice graphic. Finally some proper details!
Looked closer:

- Date: Saturday, October 14th, 2023
- Time: 3:00 PM kick-off (They always list this, important!)
- Location: Alwyns Lane, Chertsey, KT16 9DW
- Is it Home or Away? Mentioned right in the post: ‘HOME MATCH’
Double-Checked for Sloppiness
Wasn’t gonna get caught out. Remembered those TBC dates on the website. Had to make sure. Clicked back to the club site fixture list one more time. Yep, still showed TBC. But the social media post was clear and recent. Figured that’s the real info they’re actually using to tell folks right now. Way more reliable today than the website fixture list.
So there you have it. Took a bit of faffing about and hitting dead ends, but persistence (and checking Facebook!) got me the goods.
