Right so this morning I decided to finally put the 2024 Honda Fury through its paces. I’ve been itching to see how fast this beast really goes since I got it last month. Garage was a mess as usual – spent like 20 minutes just digging out my gear and helmet from under a pile of old tires.

Setting Up for the Test Run
Wheeled the Fury out around 9 AM. Engine felt cold and grumpy – kinda like me before coffee. First thing, I strapped my cheap phone mount to the handlebars. Phone slipped halfway out before I even started. Fixed it with two rubber bands from my toolbox. Probably looked dumb but whatever works.
Took the back roads toward Route 66 – less traffic, more open stretches. Wore my thickest jacket cause that wind bites hard past 70 mph. Checked tires, mirrors, and throttle response in the parking lot of Big Jim’s Diner. Guy at the counter waved me off when I asked about using the lot for “scientific purposes”.
Hitting the Throttle
Started slow. Did three runs getting gradually faster:
- Run 1: Stuck to 50-60 mph range. Engine humming smooth as butter. Felt like the bike wasn’t even trying.
- Run 2: Pushed to 85 mph. Wind started yanking my helmet back hard enough to give me a neck cramp. Handlebar wobble kicked in around 80 – had to grip tighter.
- Run 3: Went all out. Held throttle wide open for nearly a mile. Fury screamed like a banshee. Phone mount started shaking violently at around 90 mph.
That Top Speed Moment
Hit a decent flat stretch with no traffic. Leaned forward like I was hugging the tank. Squeezed every last drop from the throttle. Bike felt like it was vibrating apart under me. Stared hard at the speedometer needle climbing past 100… 105… Then that damn rubber band snapped.
Phone flew off the handlebar mount. I caught a blurry glimpse of it skittering down the asphalt in my mirror. Pulled over cursing. Phone screen shattered completely – still works somehow but now it’s got spiderweb cracks everywhere. Lesson learned: don’t trust rubber bands.

What I Actually Got
Checked my “some GPS thingy” app later (phone still functional, just ugly). Best I hit was 108 mph before the phone bail disaster. Fury definitely didn’t feel strained though – like it had more to give if I’d had the road space.
Couple things stood out:
- Seat turns rock-solid around 90 mph. Butt went numb after 5 minutes.
- Wind hits you like a brick wall past 85. Could barely hold my head straight.
- Loud doesn’t even describe it. Felt like riding inside a lawnmower after 95 mph.
Honestly? Not impressed with the top end for a big cruiser. The Fury looks mean as hell, rides like a dream below 80, but trying to push past that feels like wrestling a bear. Maybe it’s the gearing, maybe it’s just heavy. Either way, if you wanna go stupid fast, buy something else. If you wanna look cool cruising Main Street? Perfect.
