Okay, so I wanted to make a “Race Car Calendar 2024” for my nephew – he’s obsessed with cars. I figured, how hard could it be, right? Famous last words, people.

Brainstorming and Image Hunting
First, I brainstormed what kind of race cars he’d like. Formula 1? NASCAR? Rally cars? I decided to go with a mix, to keep things interesting. Then came the real challenge: finding good pictures.
I spent hours, I mean hours, scrolling through image websites. I’m pretty sure my eyes were square by the end of it. It’s surprisingly hard to find high-quality pictures that are free and ok to use, I wanted really cool action shots, not just, like, cars parked in a garage. I also get images that can fit into Calendar.
Putting it Together
Once I had my images (finally!), I needed to, you know, actually make the calendar. I tried a few online calendar makers, but they were either too basic or wanted me to pay a fortune.
- I found some templates, but they were all kinda…blah.
- Then I remembered I have software! I fired it up.
- I chose a simple layout, nothing too fancy.
- Dropped the car pictures into each month.
- I added little captions with the type of car and maybe a fun fact.
- I played around with fonts and colors until it looked decent.
Printing and Finishing
Printing was another adventure. I wanted it to look professional, not like I just printed it on my home printer (which, let’s be honest, I did).
I fiddled with the print settings, I messed up the first few, naturally ,Finally, I got it right.

It actually turned out pretty good! I used a thicker paper and print it. I punched some holes in it, and used some string to bind it together.
It’s not perfect, but hey, it’s handmade, and I think my nephew will love it. Plus, I learned a lot along the way, mostly that I should probably start planning these things way earlier than December!
