Okay, so today I wanted to dig into something that’s both thrilling and a bit scary – the crashes at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. I’ve always been fascinated by this race, and I figured, why not try to understand some of the crashes a bit better?

First, I started by watching a bunch of YouTube videos. You know, just to get a feel for the course and see some of the accidents in action. It’s one thing to read about it, but seeing those cars go off the edge is something else entirely.
My Deep Dive into the Chaos
Then, I moved on to searching for articles and reports about specific crashes. I wanted to know more than just “car goes boom.” I wanted the details: What went wrong? Was it driver error? Mechanical failure? Bad luck?
- I looked for official race reports, if they were available.
- I checked out forums and online discussions to see what other people were saying.
- I even tried to find interviews with the drivers involved, if possible.
It’s kinda like being a detective, piecing together the story from different bits of information. Some crashes were pretty straightforward – a driver took a corner too fast, or a tire blew out. Others were more mysterious, with no clear explanation.
One thing that really struck me was how incredibly dangerous this race is. I mean, you’re driving at insane speeds up a mountain road with sheer drops on either side. There’s very little room for error. One small mistake, and you’re in serious trouble.
After spending a few hours down this rabbit hole, I definitely have a greater appreciation for the skill and bravery of the drivers who take on Pikes Peak. It’s a crazy, intense race, and the crashes are a stark reminder of the risks involved.

In the end I realized, to understnad the crash itself is not the only thing important, but to know how dangerous the race is. And after what I have done I can clearly see that.
