Okay, so I came across this thing called “General Schedule 2015” and figured I’d dig into it. Honestly, I didn’t even know what it was at first. It sounded like some super official government stuff.

My Little Investigation
First, I googled it, of course. I needed to figure out what the heck this “General Schedule” even was.
Then I found some official-looking documents. Lots of tables and numbers. It was pretty overwhelming at first, to be real with you.
I spent some time trying to make sense of it all. I started to realize it was basically a pay scale, like, how much people in certain government jobs get paid.
- I noticed there were different “grades” and “steps.”
- I figured out that the higher the grade, the more responsibility the job probably had.
- And the “steps” seemed to be about experience, like, how long you’ve been in the job.
I tried to find my area, to see some salary, you know. It was a little confusing because there are so many different job categories.
Finally, I managed to get a general sense of it.I can search salary by area after I input the city and state, It’s not super exciting, but it’s kind of interesting to see how the government sets pay for different jobs. It’s all very structured, I guess that makes sense.

I am going to learn about the new General Schedule next *’s my General Schedule 2015 story.
