Today, I wanted to mess around with something called “borsois.” I’d heard about it from a friend, who said it was some kind of image processing thing. Honestly, I didn’t really know where to start, but I figured I’d just dive in and see what happened.

Borzois: Are They the Right Dog for You? (Pros and Cons)

Getting Started

First, I needed to actually, you know, get borsois. I did a quick search and found what I needed. Seemed simple enough. I followed the instructions to get it installed on my machine.

Playing Around

Once I had it installed, I wanted to see what it could do. I had a bunch of random pictures on my computer, so I picked one and tried running borsois on it. The command was something like: borsois my_*. I hit enter and… waited.

It took a little bit, I guess my computer’s not the fastest, but eventually, a new image popped up! It looked… different. Kind of like the original, but with some weird effects applied. I’m not really sure how to describe it, it was like an artistic filter, maybe?

Experimenting More

I spent the next hour or so just feeding it different images. Some of them turned out pretty cool, others were just… weird. I started playing around with some of the options that were listed in the documentation. There were things like:

  • --style : This seemed to change the overall look of the processed image.
  • --intensity: I think this controlled how strong the effect was.
  • --output: Lets save with a diffrent file name.

By tweaking these, I could get some really interesting results. I even managed to make a few images that I thought looked pretty good, good enough to use as a desktop background!

Wrapping Up

Overall, it was a fun little experiment. I still don’t fully understand how borsois works, but I definitely got a feel for what it can do. I’m thinking about trying it out on some of my own photos next, maybe I can create some cool artistic effects. I have to see if that turns into anything practical, but I wanted to document my journey!
