Okay, so I saw this challenge online about the Dodge Demon and its crazy 0-100 km/h time. I’m no professional driver, but I’ve always loved cars and speed, so I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I don’t own a Demon, obviously, but I figured I could do some research and see what I could find, maybe even try simulating something similar with, a game?

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to know what I was up against. I spent a good amount of time digging through articles and forums. I learned that this beast, the Dodge Demon, has a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine. I mean, that thing is a monster! It’s built for drag racing, so the 0-100 time is a big deal.
Finding the Information
It turns out, getting consistent numbers wasn’t as easy as I thought. Different sources had slightly different figures. Some claimed as low as around 2.3 seconds, others, a still insanely fast sub-3. What made it even trickier was finding a track that actually would be able to take the car, and whether that track had the equipment to measure it!
The Simulation Attempt
I spent an afternoon looking up some of the best tracks in the US, and what times they were getting there. I also messed around for while with the setup of my gaming rig and car, seeing if I could replicate the feeling somehow. Not the same, of course, but it was fun to tinker with the settings and try to imagine what it would be like to handle that much power, for fun I gunned the engine a few times on the starting line in my game, just to feel the rumble in my headphones.
Reality Check
It’s pretty clear that achieving these times is something only a pro driver can do, on a prepped track, with a perfectly tuned car. It’s not just about flooring it. There’s launch control, tire pressure, track temperature, and a whole bunch of other factors. But, it’s insane to think about a car that can go from a standstill to 100 km/h that quick. It really gave me a bigger appreciation for the engineering that goes into these performance vehicles.
