Okay, so I was messing around with my old games and stumbled upon NBA 2K11. Man, that cover with Michael Jordan just brings back memories! I got this sudden urge to, I don’t know, relive that cover somehow. So, I decided I’d try to recreate it, or at least, get as close as I could.

First, I fired up the game. Just seeing that intro sequence and Jordan rising up for the dunk… goosebumps! I spent a good while just watching it over and over, trying to really nail down the pose, the lighting, everything.
Next, I needed a decent picture of Jordan from that era. I dug around online, and you wouldn’t believe how many photos there are! It took a while, but I finally found one that was kind of similar in terms of the angle and his body position. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good starting point.
- I opened up my trusty old photo editing software. Nothing fancy, just something I’m comfortable with.
- I spent ages tweaking the image. I’m no pro, so this was mostly trial and error.
- I played with contrast.
- I adjusted brightness.
- I even tried to add a bit of that dramatic lighting from the original cover.
The Result
Honestly? It wasn’t exactly like the 2K11 cover. I mean, I’m no graphic designer. But, it was close enough. It definitely captured the vibe I was going for, that classic Jordan feel. It was more about the feeling of the experience and doing this brought back a lot of nostalgia.
It was a fun little project, and it reminded me why I loved that game so much. Sometimes, it’s cool to just mess around and see what you can create, even if it’s just for yourself.
