Okay, so the other day I was digging around for some old NBA stats, specifically about the Lakers’ 2016-17 season. It was kinda random, I know, but I got sucked into a rabbit hole and, well, here we are.
Getting Started
First, I fired up my trusty old browser. I didn’t really have a plan, just a general idea of what I was looking for – player stats, game scores, maybe some season highlights. Nothing too fancy.
The Deep Dive
I started poking around, just bouncing between different websites. I landed on some basic stats pages, you know, the usual stuff with points per game, rebounds, assists. It was okay, but nothing really jumped out at me.
Then I stumbled upon some more detailed game logs. This was more like it! I could see individual player performances for each game, who played well, who struggled. I even found some box scores with, like, every stat imaginable – steals, blocks, turnovers, the whole nine yards. I spent a good chunk of time just clicking through these, getting a feel for how the team performed throughout the season.

Honestly, it was more fun than I expected. I might even do this for other teams and seasons, just for kicks. You know, a little casual data-diving, nothing too serious.
