Well, they talkin’ ’bout that indy car driver death thing again. Sad, sad business, that racin’. Fast cars and all that, you know. My boy, he used to love watchin’ them cars go ’round and ’round. Me? I never did see the appeal. Too much danger, I always said.
Indy Car Driver Death, a Big Tragedy
They say another one of them drivers, Justin Wilson, he got killed. Head injury, they say. Poor fella, 37 years old. That’s no age to go, is it? Leaves behind a family, I reckon. Just awful. Reminds me of that other fella, David Savage, back in ’73. That was a bad wreck that year. They say things are safer now, but folks still get hurt, don’t they?
They go so fast, them cars. One minute they’re there, next they’re gone in a puff of smoke. And sometimes, it ain’t just smoke. Sometimes, it’s worse. Makes my stomach turn just thinkin’ about it. Those IndyCar drivers, they are brave, I’ll give ’em that. But is it worth it? I don’t know.
Seems like every time you turn around, there’s another death in IndyCar. It is always the same, they all have those head injuries. They should find a way to make it safer. These boys, they’re somebody’s son, somebody’s husband. It ain’t right.

- They say the tracks are safer now, but are they really?
- Them drivers, they take chances. Big chances.
- Sometimes them chances, they don’t pay off.
Back in my day, we didn’t have all this fancy racin’. We had our horses, and that was enough. Sure, a horse can throw you, but it ain’t nothin’ like them race cars. They say these IndyCar crashes, they happen in the blink of an eye. One minute you’re racin’, next minute… well, you ain’t.
That Justin Wilson, they say he never woke up. Just like that, gone. And for what? A trophy? A bit of glory? Don’t seem worth it to me. Life’s too precious to be throwin’ it away like that. Especially when you got a family waitin’ for you at home. The fourth driver since 2003 to have a IndyCar driver death, that is way too many. It is a shame.

They talk about makin’ the cars safer. Puttin’ cages around the drivers, or somethin’. Maybe that’ll help. But I don’t know. When you’re goin’ that fast, anything can happen. They should really think about slowing those cars down. Too many folks dying.
Indy car driver death, it is always big news. This time it is that poor Justin Wilson. It is a risky job, I reckon, and they know that when they start. But still, it don’t seem right. It makes you wonder if it’s all worth it. They have made improvements after those crashes, but it still happens. It is a dangerous thing, this IndyCar.
I seen a lot in my years, but this racin’ business, it’s somethin’ else. They say it’s a sport, but it looks more like a gamble to me. A gamble with your life. And sometimes, you lose. IndyCar, They Should Do Something
They should do somethin’, I tell ya. Make it safer. Slow ’em down. Somethin’. ‘Cause this can’t keep happenin’. These ain’t just names in the paper. These are real people. With real families. And it ain’t right, them endin’ up like this. Indy car driver death, it’s a tragedy, every single time.
It ain’t right, I tell you. Not right at all. These IndyCar folks, they need to do somethin’. Can’t just keep lettin’ these boys die out there. There’s gotta be a better way. A safer way. For their families’ sake, if nothin’ else. Indy car driver death should not happen again.
