Alright, so I finally got around to that Gold Ridge Beast section in Black Myth Wukong. Been hearing whispers, you know, the usual chatter online. Figured I’d dive in and see what the actual deal was, get my own hands dirty, so to speak.
Fired up the game. Took a bit to get to the right spot. The environments, I gotta say, they’re pretty to look at. Lots of detail. Anyway, I pushed through this sort of rocky, forested path, classic setup for something big. You can almost smell a boss fight brewing in these kinds of games.
Getting to the Beast
So, I’m making my way, taking out some smaller enemies, nothing too crazy. Standard stuff. Then the area opens up a bit, and you get that feeling, you know? The air changes. And there it was – the Gold Ridge Beast. Man, this thing is a looker. Big, imposing, all that gold shimmering. Definitely not just another random enemy you swat away.
My first thought? “Okay, this is gonna be interesting.” It just stands there for a second, sizing you up. Or maybe I was sizing it up. Either way, you know a scrap is coming.
The Practice: First Few Tries
So, I charged in. Like I usually do. Maybe not the smartest, but hey, that’s how I learn. Threw a few quick staff hits. Tried to get a feel for its reach. And boy, does it have reach. And power. It hit me once, and a good chunk of my health just vanished. Yep. Dead. First try, probably lasted all of thirty seconds. Humbling, that’s for sure.
Back at it. This time, I told myself, “Patience, old man, patience.” Tried to watch its moves more. It’s got this sweeping attack, really wide. And a pounce that closes distance fast. Got caught by that a couple of times. Still died. And again.
It’s one of those fights where you can’t just go in swinging wildly. Each hit from the beast, it really punishes you. So, I started to really focus on its tells. When it rears back, what kind of attack is coming? When’s the tiny window to get a hit or two in?
Figuring Things Out
I started using Wukong’s abilities a bit more strategically. The decoys, those are lifesavers, man. Gives you a second to breathe, heal up, or just get out of the way of a big combo. But the beast is smart, sometimes it’ll ignore the decoy or smash it quick.
I found that after its big overhead smash, there’s a small opening. Just enough for a couple of quick pokes. Or if you dodge its charge just right, you can get a few hits on its flank. It’s all about those little moments. String enough of them together, and you start seeing its health bar actually go down.
There were a few times I got it really low, then got greedy. Tried to finish it off too fast and, wham, back to the start. Super frustrating, that. But that’s the loop, isn’t it? You learn a tiny bit more each time. What not to do, mostly.
- Learned to manage my stamina. Can’t just dodge everything all the time.
- Figured out which of its attacks I could parry, or at least block without losing too much.
- Got better at using those special transformation skills at the right moment for a burst of damage.
Finally Getting It Done
After, I don’t know, maybe an hour or so of trying, of tweaking my approach, I finally got the rhythm. Dodge, hit, dodge, use an ability, back off. It was like a dance, a very deadly dance. And then, finally, that last hit landed. The beast went down. Felt pretty good, not gonna lie. A real sense of accomplishment there.
So, the Gold Ridge Beast? Yeah, it’s a solid challenge. It’s tough but fair, which is what you want from these kinds of encounters. It makes you learn, makes you adapt. It’s not just about having fast reflexes; you gotta use your head a bit too. If this is a taste of what the rest of Black Myth Wukong is like, then I’m definitely looking forward to spending more time with it. It’s been a while since a fight got me that invested in just figuring it out step by step.
