Alright, so the other day, I got it in my head to really check out who the Braves snagged in the 2024 draft. It wasn’t like I had a ton of time, but my neighbor, Jim, he’s a massive Braves nut, and he was going on and on about it. I just wanted to keep up, you know? Didn’t want to sound like a complete fool next time we’re out grilling.
So, first thing I did, I just kinda poked around online. Typed in “Braves 2024 draft picks” into the good ol’ search bar. You get a bunch of stuff, right? Some articles are super long, full of stats I barely understand. Honestly, sometimes it’s a bit much. I was just looking for a simple rundown, who they picked, what position they play, that sort of thing.
Took me a bit of clicking around. Some sites had pop-ups everywhere, nearly drove me crazy. Finally, I found a couple of places that just laid it out, nice and easy. I jotted down a few notes, just to keep ’em straight in my head. It’s funny, I used to just wait for the sports section in the paper the next day. Simpler times, eh?
What I Noticed (Nothing Too Fancy)
From what I gathered, it looked like a mix, as usual. Here’s what kinda stuck out to me, just my quick take:
- They seemed to grab a few pitchers early on. Makes sense, you can never have too many arms.
- Saw a couple of college guys, which I always think is interesting. Maybe they’re a bit more ready to move up, who knows.
- Then there were some high school kids too. Always a bit of a gamble with them, but the payoff can be huge.
- Position-wise, it wasn’t just pitchers. Saw an outfielder, maybe an infielder or two in the mix. They’re trying to cover their bases, I guess.
Nothing earth-shattering, just my observations. I’m no scout, just a guy trying to follow his team. I remember one year, must’ve been ages ago, my dad got so worked up about a first-round pick he’d never heard of. Turned out the kid was a bust. Dad never let the front office live that one down, at least not in our living room.
Anyway, that was my little adventure into the draft picks. Now, at least I’ll have something to say when Jim starts talking about the ‘future of the franchise.’ It’s all part of the fun, right? Just keeping up with the team and hoping for the best for these young guys. It’s a tough road for them, that’s for sure.
