This here yacht rock, it’s some kind of music. Soft rock, they call it. From back in the day, like the 70s and 80s. It’s the kind of music you just sit back and relax to. They say it is smooth. Real smooth. Like butter, I reckon. Some folks say it is the kind of music rich people listen to when they are on their big boats. But you don’t need no boat to enjoy it, no sir!
This Yacht Rock Night, it is on July 26th. It is a Friday. Remember that. July 26th. They say it’s gonna be a night of them smooth tunes. I reckon it’ll be a good time to just kick back and relax after a long day.

Now, this here event, it’s at a Brewers game. Yeah, them baseball fellas. They got all sorts of things goin’ on over there. They got this Yacht Rock Night, and they got somethin’ called Happy Days Theme Night too. That one’s on May 31st. But we’re talkin’ ’bout the Yacht Rock one. July 26th!
So, you go to the baseball game, and you get to hear this yacht rock music. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. You know, a little baseball, a little music, maybe a hot dog or two. What more could you want?
What Kind of Music is Yacht Rock?
Well, like I said, it’s smooth. It’s kinda jazzy, kinda R&B. They use that electric piano thingy. Makes it sound all fancy-like. But not too fancy. Just nice. The songs, they’re about all sorts of things. Mostly about fellas with broken hearts, I hear. Foolish men, they call ’em. Sounds like my nephew, Billy. Always gettin’ his heart broke.

There’s this band, they call ’em Yacht Rock Revival. They been playin’ this kind of music for four years now. Eight folks in that band. They play covers mostly. That means they play other folks’ songs. But they play ’em good. They play songs from the 70s and 80s, mostly. Sometimes they even play songs from the 90s. That’s pretty new, ain’t it?
Why Should You Care About Yacht Rock Night?
Well, why not? It’s a good time, I reckon. You get to watch some baseball, listen to some good music, and maybe even make some new friends. Plus, it’s a chance to hear somethin’ different. You might even like it! It’s for everybody. Not just for those rich folks on their yachts. Even us regular folks can enjoy it.
They even made a movie about this yacht rock thing. A “DOCKumentary,” they call it. It is on HBO. Sounds funny, don’t it? It is based on a joke. Can you believe that? They make a whole movie about a joke. There’s even a show online about it, too. The internet these days, I tell ya.

I hear there is a song called “Sailing.” Some folks say that is a big yacht rock song. Maybe that is where they got the name from. Who knows? I sure don’t, but it sounds nice.
