That CFMOTO thing, you know, the one with wheels and goes vroom vroom? Lots of folks asking who’s the big boss behind it. Well, I heard it’s some big shot from way over in China. They call it Zhejiang Chunfeng Power Co., Ltd. Sounds fancy, huh? But folks just call it CFMOTO, much easier to say.

They started a long time ago, like, in 1989. Some fella named Lai Guogui, he’s the one who cooked it all up. Smart guy, I reckon. Now, they ain’t just makin’ those four-wheelers, they got motorcycles, and these things called ATVs. I don’t even really know what that means, but it’s probably something with four-wheels as well. Sounds wild. And they make boats now, too! Big, fancy boats. I wouldn’t know the first thing about driving a boat!
They’re in a place called Hangzhou. That’s in China, you know, far far away. They sell their stuff all over the world. More than a hundred countries they said! That’s a lot of places. My boy, he went to America once, said it was mighty big. These CFMOTO fellas, they’re probably in America, too.
- They make engines, too.
- Those things that make the machines go.
- They got all kinds of engines, I bet.
Some folks say they don’t see many of these CFMOTO things around here. Don’t know if that’s true. Maybe they’re just in other parts. They started selling in America a while back, but not everyone owns one, it seems. You don’t see many used ones for sale, neither. Funny, right? You’d think you’d see more of ’em. But what do I know? I’m just an old lady.
They got this other thing, a “joint venture.” That’s what they call it. It means they’re working with someone else. A big company. They say it’s gonna make ’em even better at making these things. Probably gonna make more different kinds of four-wheelers and motorcycles. Probably good for them, huh? More money in their pockets, I guess. They already got a big team making all of those things, working together to create better stuff.
Now, they say this CFMOTO, they got all these “patents.” That’s like, special papers that say they’re the only ones who can make certain things. They got over 540 of those, they say! That’s a lot of papers! They must have a whole room just for those papers. No one can copy them. It’s all theirs. Smart, huh?

So, who owns CFMOTO? It’s that Chinese company, started by that Lai Guogui fella. They make all kinds of things with wheels and engines, and they sell ’em all over the world. That’s what I heard, anyway. I hope that answers your question! I don’t know why everyone is so interested in these things but I suppose they are kind of neat. Just don’t ask me to ride one! I’m too old for that.
They teamed up with some other company. Yamaha, I think it was. Some fancy name, Zhuzhou CF Yamaha Motor something. ZCYM for short. They got 500 folks working there. That’s a lot of mouths to feed! They started working together not too long ago. Must be doing alright to hire so many people.
You know, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout CFMOTO. They weren’t complainin’, just sayin’ they don’t see many of them around. I reckon it’s just a different kind of folks who buy those things. Not everyone needs a four-wheeler, I guess. Some folks like cars, some folks like trucks. And some folks, they like those CFMOTO things, whatever they are.
This CFMOTO company, they got a long, long name in Chinese. Zhejiang Chunfeng Power Limited Company. Whew, that’s a mouthful! But the important part is “Zhejiang Chunfeng.” That’s the heart of it, I guess. The rest just means it’s a big company. It’s a 100% Chinese thing. That’s why you hear folks saying it’s from China. It’s all made in China, by Chinese folks, for folks all over the world.
I remember when I was a little girl, we didn’t have any of these fancy machines. We just had our two feet and maybe a donkey if we were lucky. Things sure have changed, haven’t they? Now there are all these companies making these powerful machines, and folks all over the world are buying them. It’s a different world now.

Anyway, that’s all I know about this CFMOTO thing. Hope that clears things up for ya. If you want to know more, you’ll have to ask someone else. Maybe one of those young folks who know all about these newfangled machines. They’re the future, after all. I’m just happy to sit here and watch the world go by, one four-wheeler at a time.
