Okay, so today I wanted to figure out something about the Cincinnati Reds’ mascot. You know, I’ve been watching their games, and I always see that…thing…running around. I wanted to know more, so I dug in.
What is going on?
First, I just straight-up searched for “Cincinnati Reds mascot.” I mean, that’s the obvious starting point, right?
Finding some names
My search results were showing a few names. Let me tell ya I had to choose what was best. I tried these:
- Mr. Red
- Gapper
- Rosie Red
- Mr. Redlegs
I saw a few images. that Mr. Red, the one with the big, oversized baseball head, seems like the main one. He has a classic look, I guess.
But then there’s this other guy, Gapper. I’m seeing pictures of a furry, kinda goofy-looking creature.I also found some with Mr. Redlegs, an old-school baseball player with a HUGE mustache, and Rosie Red.
I’m thinking Mr. Red is the classic, and Gapper,and the others are more, I don’t know, sidekicks?I put it all that my finding.
Diving Deeper
I wanted to find out when these mascots first showed up. For each one, I did some more,searching their names with “history” or “introduced.”
I checked out images, and all I got that they were having fun with the fans, running around the field, I must say, they are doing a good job!
