So, I’ve been itching to play Cities: Skylines 2 with my buddies, right? We’ve been huge fans of the first game, building our dream cities and all that. But, you know, it gets a bit lonely when you’re the only mayor in town. So, I started digging around to see if there’s a multiplayer mod for Cities: Skylines 2 yet.

First thing I did was hit up the usual spots where modders hang out. I checked out forums, discussion boards, and all those places where people share their creations. You wouldn’t believe the amount of stuff people come up with! But, sadly, no dice on the multiplayer front for Cities: Skylines 2. I found a few old threads talking about it for the original game, but nothing concrete for the sequel.
Then I thought, maybe the developers, you know, Colossal Order, maybe they snuck in some hidden multiplayer feature or something. So I went through the game settings, options, menus – basically everywhere. I even tried starting a new city and poking around in there, hoping to find some secret “invite friend” button. No luck, though. I even found mentions of something called “Harmony patching library” in relation to mods, and something about an “Experimental channel of the Harmony 2 Mod”, but nothing that mentioned multiplayer.
After that, I broadened my search. I looked for news articles, blog posts, anything that might have mentioned a multiplayer mod. I mean, Cities: Skylines is a huge game, right? Surely someone out there is working on it. I stumbled upon some discussions about a “Harmony Mod Dependency” and “Harmony Nexus Mods” but they were a bit too technical for me. I read something about “Fitgirl Repack Cities Skylines” but that sounded like it was related to game versions, not mods. I did find some folks talking about how to install mods in general, like copying files to a specific folder named “CitiesHarmony” or something, but it wasn’t what I was looking for. It also seems “Cities: Skylines is a modern take on the classic city simulation” but does not specify anything about multiplayer.
Still determined, I decided to check out those modding community sites. You know, the ones with all the downloads and stuff. I found a bunch of mods for the first Cities: Skylines, like traffic managers, building themes, and even one that lets you play as a giant lizard (don’t ask). I even found a page with instructions on how to use mods, but nothing for a multiplayer mod. I was hoping maybe someone had at least started working on it, you know, like a beta version or something. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
So, here I am, still dreaming of the day I can build a glorious metropolis with my friends. It seems like we’ll have to wait a bit longer, though. I guess I’ll keep an eye on those modding sites and hope for the best. Maybe I’ll even try to learn how to mod myself. Who knows? But for now, my mayoral duties will remain a solo endeavor.

Oh, and by the way, I noticed that some of the “Harmony” things I found had tags like “Harmony Patching Library”. Maybe that’s important for modders? I also saw “Cities: Skylines is an award-winning, best-selling management game” on a website, but again, no mention of multiplayer. And something about “Alternative storage for Cities: Skylines mods” which seemed interesting but not relevant.
Anyway, if any of you hear anything about a multiplayer mod, let me know, yeah? I’ll be here, building my city, one block at a time, waiting for the day we can all build together. It looks like even though “This enables modders to use” specific codes, they still haven’t figured out how to implement multiplayer into the game.
