Okay, so I’ve been wanting to mess around with some baseball data for a while, and the 2016 Cubs are, you know, the 2016 Cubs. So I figured, why not start there? Let’s dig into that championship roster.
Getting Started
First thing I needed was, well, the roster itself. You can’t really do anything without the actual player names and information.
I scratched around for reliable sources. I wanted something I could trust, not just some random blog post. I remember some offical data for the cubs, but it takes sometime to find it. So that took a bit of digging, but I finally got it.
Building the List
Once I get the data,I started pulling everything together. I decided that put the data together into a simple list, because it’s easy to deal with.
- Pitchers: I started listing out all the pitchers.
- Catchers: Then I moved onto the catchers.
- Infielders: Next up, the infielders – gotta have those guys.
- Outfielders: And finally, the outfielders.
Putting It All Together
It actually took a little longer than I thought. There’s a surprising amount of information once you start looking, and making sure I got everything right took some double-checking. But, there, now I’m have a full lists for the cubs 2016 roster, and also I noticed some interesting player that I didn’t realize before.
