Okay, so I wanted to share something I worked on recently, this whole Carrie Diaz thing. It wasn’t like some big project, more like a personal deep dive I got into.
Starting Out
It began pretty simply. I heard the name, Carrie Diaz, mentioned somewhere. Can’t even remember exactly where now, maybe reading an old local paper clipping or something someone mentioned in passing. It just stuck in my head, you know? Sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place it. So, I figured, why not try and find out a bit more?
The Digging Process
First thing I did, obviously, was hit the internet. Just typed “Carrie Diaz” into the search bar. Got a whole lot of stuff back, way too much. Lots of different people with that name, none seemed quite right based on the context I vaguely remembered.
So, I tried to narrow it down. Added the town name, added keywords I thought might be related. Still, it was messy. Found some social media profiles, but they looked like different folks. Found some business listings, again, didn’t quite click.
Getting Specific
I realized I needed a better angle. I remembered the context was kinda old, maybe from like, the 90s? So I started using date ranges in my searches. That helped a bit, cut down the noise.
- Searched old newspaper archives online. Found a couple mentions, but just small things, like event attendee lists.
- Tried looking through old local government records, meeting minutes online. That was a long shot, didn’t find much there.
- Scoured some local history forums. Posted a vague question, careful not to give too much away. Got a couple of ‘maybe this person?’ replies, but they led to dead ends.
It was a slow process. Felt like I was just clicking around for hours sometimes. You go down one rabbit hole, find nothing, then try another. It takes patience, that’s for sure.
What I Found (or Didn’t)
After a few evenings of this, I didn’t exactly find a detailed biography or anything earth-shattering. But I did piece together a bit more context. Found a connection to a community project from way back. Nothing major, but it satisfied my curiosity, scratched that itch, you know?
It wasn’t about uncovering some big secret. It was more about the process, the hunt. Just trying to connect a name to a story. Sometimes you find what you’re looking for, sometimes you just find bits and pieces. And that’s okay. The process itself was interesting enough for me this time around.
