This here talkin’ ’bout the Braves farm system, you know, them young’uns comin’ up. They say it’s a big deal, this farmin’ thing for baseball. Gotta have them young fellas ready to play in the big leagues, ya hear?
Braves Farm System, Some Big Ol’ Deal
Well, seems like these Braves, they been doin’ alright with their young’uns. Heard some folks sayin’ on the radio, “Braves Today,” or somethin’ like that. They yappin’ about how good this Braves farm system been last five years. My old ears ain’t what they used to be, but I reckon it’s a good thing. They got all them fancy words for it, “MLB Pipeline,” “farm system rankings,” all that. Just means they got some good young ball players, I suppose.
Who Are These Braves Anyway?
Now, these Braves, they ain’t always been called that. Nope. They was somethin’ else before. Back in the old days, way back when I was a little girl, they was called the Red Stockings, then Beaneaters. They got all these names. Then they was the Doves. Land sakes, them names is somethin’ else. But now they’s the Braves. And they play down in Atlanta, that’s where they are. Big city, that Atlanta.
Someone said they’re “America’s Team,” somethin’ like that. Means everyone watches ’em, I guess. And sometimes they call them “The Bravos” or that other name, “The Barves.” People make up all sorts of things. It is like they just like to talk about them Braves all the time. And they’ve been around. A long time. I mean a real long time, even before I was born, and that was a while ago, let me tell you.
These Young’uns Learnin’ to Play
They got this thing, the Braves farm system, where they teach them young fellas how to play ball good. They get ’em ready for the big time. Some fellas, they just naturals. Others, they gotta work at it. They have some names like that Prospect1500, they are just some guys who like to watch the young players. They say some of these players are going to be really good. Shoot up the rankings they say. That’s like bein’ the best of the best, I reckon.
- They teach ’em how to hit that ball.
- They teach ’em how to run them bases fast.
- They teach ’em how to catch that ball, don’t let it drop.
- They teach ’em how to throw hard and straight.
And it ain’t easy, that’s for sure. Gotta practice, practice, practice. Sun up to sun down, they out there workin’.

Some guys on the radio said the team got a good system. Like number 26. That’s pretty good. Better than those Astros and Royals. I don’t know much about them teams but I heard they’re rivals or something. Baseball folks, they sure do love their rivalries.
It Ain’t Easy, That’s for Sure
Well I heard they just had somethin’ called the “MLB Draft” and that’s like pickin’ out which of the young fellas they want. They do that every year. They were talkin’ ’bout it on “Farm Friday”. That’s some show I reckon that talks about all the young players. I don’t know too much but I heard it on the radio and that’s where I get all my news.
These young fellas, they come from all over. Some from right here in the state, some from far away. They all got that dream, you know, to make it to the big leagues. Play under them bright lights, hear the crowd cheerin’. It’s a good dream, I reckon.
And the Braves, they watchin’ ’em close. They see who’s got that somethin’ special, that spark. Who’s gonna be the next big star? It’s a waitin’ game, seein’ who’s gonna make it and who ain’t.
The Braves, They Been Around
They have been around longer than any team in baseball. They were in Boston, then they moved around, and now they’re in Atlanta. That’s a lot of moving for a team but I guess they found a home. They have been playing every year since they started. Never missed a year. That’s something, ain’t it? When you think of how long that is. Longer than anyone’s been alive now, that’s for sure.

Well, that’s all I know ’bout that Braves farm system. Just what I hear folks talkin’ ’bout and what I hear on the radio. It’s a big deal, this baseball. And them Braves, they right in the middle of it. Always have been, always will be, I suppose. Gotta have them young’uns comin’ up, keepin’ the game goin’. That’s just the way it is.
