So yesterday I got this random idea – who’s gonna win between Deportivo Pereira and Atletico Nacional? Grabbed my laptop and started digging. First thing I did was pull up last season’s stats. Man, that took forever – different sites had different numbers. Ended up comparing like six sources before I felt good about it.
What I actually did
Made a quick spreadsheet – old school style with pen and paper first:
- Step 1: Wrote down last 5 games for both teams – home and away matters big time
- Step 2: Checked who’s injured. This part sucked cause team websites? Useless. Twitter rumors were more useful honestly
- Step 3: Looked at how they play – Pereira attacks more but their defense? Kinda shaky
Then I got fancy and made a little chart scoring each team in different things:
- Attack power ā: Pereira 7/10 vs Nacional 6/10
- Defense wall š”ļø: Pereira 5/10 vs Nacional 8/10
- Home cooking š : Pereira playing at home = big plus
- Stress test š¬: Nacional handles pressure way better
The messy part
My numbers said Pereira by a tiny bit. But my gut? Kept yelling “Nacional ain’t losing this!” See here’s the thing – last time they played? Nacional crushed them 3-0. But that was months ago and Pereira got some new dudes now.
Kept flipping back and forth like:
- New Pereira striker = fast but misses easy goals š¤¦āāļø
- Nacional’s captain back from injury = huge difference maker
- Weather says rain ā = messes up passing game
My final take
After staring at my messy notes for an hour? Nacional’s got better chances. Maybe not by much but they know how to not lose. Pereira could surprise everyone if they score early though. Personally? Iād bet a cold beer on Nacional walking away with at least a draw.
Still got questions though – why does Pereira always choke in big moments? Might dig into that next week.
