Alright, so I decided to go after the shiny Frigibax in Pokemon Go. You know how it is with these new shinies, especially the dragon types – everyone wants one, and I’m no different. It’s not like these things just fall into your lap, though. It takes some real effort, or just dumb luck, sometimes a bit of both.

Getting Started with the Frigibax Hunt
First things first, I had to figure out where these little ice guys were even spawning. Frigibax isn’t exactly common as a Pidgey, you know? I checked the usual community maps and chats to see if anyone reported nests or frequent spawn areas. No dice on a nest nearby, which I kinda expected. So, it was gonna be a general grind.
I made sure I was stocked up on the essentials:
- Pokeballs: Loads of them. You burn through these faster than you think when you’re checking everything.
- Incense: Figured it couldn’t hurt to have one running while I was out and about. Every little bit helps, or so they say.
- Battery Pack: My phone’s battery life isn’t what it used to be, and Pokemon Go drains it like crazy. This thing is a lifesaver.
The Grind Begins: Walking and Tapping
So, I started my hunt. This mostly involved a lot of walking. I hit up my usual spots – parks, downtown areas, places with a decent number of Pokestops. The plan was simple: tap on every Frigibax that popped up on the map. See if it’s shiny. If not, move on. Sounds easy, but man, it gets repetitive.
The first few days were pretty uneventful. I caught a bunch of regular Frigibax, which was good for candy, I guess. But no shiny. Not even a hint of one. I started to think this was gonna be one of those really long hunts. You see other people posting their shiny catches almost immediately, and you’re like, “How?!” But that’s just RNG for you. Sometimes you’re the golden child, sometimes you’re grinding for weeks.
I spent a good few hours each day, mostly in the evenings after work or on the weekend. Just walking, eyes glued to the screen. My feet were definitely feeling it. And let me tell you, tapping on hundreds of the same Pokémon, seeing that same old blue color every time, it tests your patience. It really does. It’s like the game knows what you want and just dangles it in front of you.

Keeping the Faith (and the Incense Burning)
There were moments I thought about giving up, or at least taking a long break. You start to wonder if your game is bugged or something, even though you know it’s not. It’s just the odds. I told myself, “Just one more walk, just one more incense.” I even tried playing at different times, thinking maybe that would change my luck. Superstition, probably, but when you’re deep in a shiny hunt, you’ll try anything.
I kept checking, encounter after encounter. Saw so many Frigibax, I could probably draw one from memory with my eyes closed. I was getting decent at quickly identifying them on the overworld map, even from a distance. That’s one skill you pick up, I suppose.
Finally! That Little Sparkle!
Then, it happened. I was out on a Saturday morning, just doing my usual route. Tapped on a Frigibax that spawned near a gym, not really expecting much. And bam! There it was. The color was different, a bit lighter, and those tell-tale sparkles flashed on the screen. My heart definitely skipped a beat. You get this little rush, you know? After all that searching.
It actually happened! I quickly made sure to use a Golden Razz Berry and an Ultra Ball. No way was I letting this one run away. Thankfully, it stayed in the ball on the first throw. Phew! The relief was real.
Checked its stats afterwards – nothing amazing, pretty average as these things usually are when you find them wild. But honestly, with a shiny, I’m not too bothered about the stats most of the time. It’s the color, the rarity, that’s the prize.

Wrapping Up the Frigibax Chapter
So, yeah, shiny Frigibax secured. It took a while, a lot of walking, and a whole heap of patience. But that’s the game, isn’t it? Some hunts are quick, some take forever. This one was somewhere in the middle, I’d say. Now, it’s sitting in my collection, a nice little trophy of the effort. What’s next? Who knows. There’s always another shiny to chase. For now, though, I’m just glad this particular hunt is over.
