Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about “Pikes Peak Jeremy Foley” lately, and I figured, why not give it a shot myself? I mean, racing up a mountain? Sounds like a blast, right?
First things first, I needed to do some digging. I found a bunch of videos and articles about Jeremy Foley’s runs, watched them all to learn. It’s crazy intense!
Next, I Got the simulation game. I mean, I can’t just hop in a car and race up Pikes Peak. I needed to, you know, practice. Virtually, at least. So, I booted up, picked a car that seemed kinda similar to what Foley drives, and started practicing,and get the handle on the track. It’s way harder than it looks, It is really difficult.
I spent hours, like, a serious amount of time, just driving the virtual course. Trying different lines, braking points, all that jazz. My first few runs were… well, let’s just say they involved a lot of virtual crashes. A LOT. And I’m not proud of it.
- First attempt: Total disaster. Spun out like five times.
- Second attempt: Slightly better, but still ended up in a virtual ditch.
- Third attempt: Okay, I started to get the hang of it. Fewer crashes, at least.
After many times, I finally managed to complete a full run without, you know, totaling the virtual car. It wasn’t pretty, and my time was probably terrible compared to the pros, but hey, I did it!
My Takeaways
This whole Pikes Peak thing, even virtually, is no joke. It takes a ton of focus, precision, and, honestly, guts. I have a whole new level of respect for guys like Jeremy Foley who do this for real.
I found this one is fun and also a good way to get a tiny taste of what it’s * it is a good plan to practice my skill.
So, that’s my little Pikes Peak adventure. It was fun, frustrating, and definitely eye-opening. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Would I try it in real life? Maybe someday, after a lot more practice… and maybe a few prayers.
