Okay, so I was looking at stuff about Novak Djokovic, you know, the tennis guy. Seems like he’s been making some moves lately, and not all of them are about playing.
I started digging around because I heard he pulled out of the Rolex Paris Masters. Yeah, the one that just happened. I was curious, like, why would he do that? Was he hurt? Taking a break? What’s the deal?
So, I searched for his name and the tournament, and it turns out, yeah, he wasn’t there. But then, get this, I saw his name on the entry list for the Madrid Open coming up! I was like, “Wait a minute, he’s skipping Paris but going to Madrid?”
Kept digging, and apparently, he’s out of the Madrid Masters too. Now I’m really confused. This Madrid tournament is a big deal on clay, right after Monte Carlo. Why would he miss that one?

- Found some stuff saying he was qualified for the 2024 ATP Finals. That’s the big end-of-year thing.
- But then, boom, read that he withdrew from that too! Said he had an injury, but didn’t say what kind.
Now I’m thinking, “Is this guy okay?” He’s not getting any younger, you know? He’s 37. Maybe he’s just being smart about his body. I checked and some former coach of Roger Federer, Ivan Ljubicic, said something about Djokovic not being “physically or mentally ready anymore” for the Paris Masters. Makes sense, I guess.
Looked a bit more, and there’s all this talk about the 2024 season for him. Apparently, it started way back on December 31st with the United Cup. It is now all a mess of a timeline for me!
Then there was something about the US Open. Checked and he didn’t win that. Some young guy, Alexei Popyrin, beat him. So, he’s not winning everything anymore, it seems.
But here’s the kicker: I found this interview where he said he’s not retiring! He wants to win more and get his ranking up in 2025. He was in Brisbane when he said this, before some tournament there.
So, basically, I went down this rabbit hole trying to figure out what Djokovic is up to. It’s all a bit of a mystery. He’s pulling out of tournaments, but he’s not quitting. Maybe he’s just being strategic. Who knows? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what he does next.
It is very interesting how Djokovic operates as it is a complete mystery for a lot of people! Maybe he will talk about it more in the future.
