Alright, let’s gab a bit about this Dos Santos fella, the Mexican soccer player. Don’t know much about soccer, but I heard folks talking, so I figured I’d share what I picked up. Seems like there’s more than one of ’em, these Dos Santos boys.

First off, there’s this Jonathan dos Santos. They say he’s playin’ for Amrica now, in Mexico. A “defensive midfielder,” whatever that means. Sounds like he runs around a lot, stoppin’ other fellas from kickin’ the ball, I guess. He’s from Monterrey, that much I know. And get this, he and his brother, Giovani, they were playin’ in France when they were just kids, in some kinda youth thing.
- Jonathan Dos Santos: Plays for Amrica in Mexico. A defensive midfielder.
- Giovani Dos Santos: Used to play soccer, now in the oil business.
Speakin’ of Giovani dos Santos, he’s the one folks seem to remember more. They say he was a real hotshot, coulda been the next Messi, whoever that is. Played for the LA Galaxy for a while, scorin’ fancy goals, they say. He even won somethin’ called the MLS Cup, sounds important. But then he went back to Mexico, played for Amrica too, just like his brother. But here’s the kicker, he ain’t playin’ soccer no more. At 35, he’s doin’ somethin’ with oil now, a businessman, can you believe it? Petroleum somethin’ or other, big money I reckon.
Now, this Jonathan fella, he’s been movin’ around too. Played in Spain, then went to LA, just like his brother. But he came back to Mexico in 2021 or 2022. Seems like these Dos Santos boys, they like to come back home. And Jonathan, he’s got a good coach now, this Jardine fella, and they say he might even play for the Mexico team again, somethin’ called the Nations League.
There’s also another young Dos Santos, just 24 years old. Didn’t play much for some team in Miami. Before that, he was over in Portugal, learnin’ to play. His daddy, Zizinho, he played soccer too, a Brazilian fella who played in Mexico a long time ago. So, it runs in the family, this soccer business. And his mama, Liliana Ramrez, she’s Mexican, I think.
So, you got these Dos Santos fellas, all playin’ soccer, or used to. Jonathan, still kickin’ the ball, Giovani, makin’ money in oil, and this young one, just startin’ out. They won somethin’ called the FIFA U-17 World Cup back in 2005, when they were just boys. Musta been real good, even back then.

Heard tell that the best soccer players from Mexico are some other fellas, Edson Alvarez and Santiago Gimenez, and a girl named Maria Sanchez. Don’t know ’em myself, but people say they’re good. Seems like there’s a lot of good players down there in Mexico.
Anyways, that’s the gist of it, what I heard about these Dos Santos boys. One’s still playin’, one’s in the oil business, and one’s just startin’ out. They’re Mexican soccer players, and that’s about all I know. Don’t ask me about formations or tactics or any of that fancy stuff. I just know they kick the ball and sometimes they score, and sometimes they make a lot of money doin’ it.
Mexican soccer, it seems like a big deal. These Dos Santos fellas, they been all over the world, playin’ their game. And now one of ’em is doin’ somethin’ different, makin’ his way in the business world. Guess there’s more than one way to kick a ball, or somethin’ like that. Life takes you in funny directions, that’s for sure.
