Alright, guys, let’s talk about leveling up your Necromancer in Diablo 4. I’ve been playing around with a build, and it’s been pretty fun, so I figured I’d share my experience.

Getting Started: Early Game (Levels 1-15)
So, at the very beginning, I focused on getting my basic skills down. I started with Reap as my basic attack. It felt pretty good to, you know, swing that scythe and generate some Essence.
- Reap: My main damage dealer in the early going.
- Decompose: My main essence generator at the start of the game.
Then, I grabbed Decompose. I wanted to test to generate Essence and do some damage over time. I felt that Decompose was more effective at the start, because it let me to kite enemies around while still doing damage.
Once I hit level 5 or so, I unlocked Blood Surge. Man, this is where things started to get interesting. This ability does a ton of damage in a big area. I’d use to build up the essence and blow everything up.
Mid-Game Mayhem (Levels 15-30)
Around level 15, my build really starts to take off, this is where I unlocked the Book of the Dead. I went straight for the Skeletal Warriors – Skirmishers, specifically. These guys are great for doing extra damage.
I also started putting some points into passive skills. Hewed Flesh helped generate more corpses, which is super important for a Necromancer. I also grabbed things like Fueled by Death to boost my damage after consuming a corpse. Simple, but effective.

Late Game Powerhouse (Levels 30+)
Getting into the late game, I started experimenting with more skills. I tried Corpse Explosion, and it was glorious. With enough corpses around, I could chain explosions and clear entire screens. I also added Iron Maiden to my curses and then used my other skills on the enemies.
- Corpse Explosion: Boom goes the dynamite.
- Iron Maiden: To give curse to enemies and make them hurt themselves.
By this point, I was pretty much a walking death machine. I had my skeletons, I had my explosions, and I had plenty of Essence to keep it all going. It felt really powerful, and most importantly, it was just plain fun.
Key Takeaways From My Experience
Summon your Skeleton to tank enemies.
Then, keep a good distance to cast damage-over-time skill: Decompose.
Once you get enough essence, just explode the entire screen.

That’s pretty much my leveling journey with the Necromancer. Remember, this is just what worked for me. You might find something that works even better for you. The most important thing is to experiment and have fun with it. Go out there and raise some hell… I mean, skeletons!
