Okay so I wanted to check out the new Honda NX500 today. Heard it’s replacing the CB500X. But man, sorting through specs feels like digging through junk drawer sometimes. Here’s exactly how I hunted it down.

Started Simple
Grabbed phone first. Googled “Honda NX500 official specs”. Official Honda page popped up but dang – it was drowning in marketing fluff. Like five paragraphs about “adventure spirit” before any actual numbers. Scrolled forever just to find engine displacement. Screw this.
Went Comparison Hunting
Switched to laptop thinking it’d be easier. Found this bike database site everyone recommends. Filtered by adventure bikes, 500cc range. Saw Kawasaki Versys-X 300 sitting right above Honda – almost clicked wrong bike three times! Why they sort alphabetically instead of engine size? Anyway.
Finally found NX500 column. Started ticking boxes for important stuff:
- Price – $6,899 they claim
- Horsepower – 47 ponies
- Weight – 439 pounds wet
- Seat height – 32.8 inches
Then added Suzuki V-Strom 250 just for kicks. Nearly spit coffee – NX500 weighs 100 pounds more than that Suzuki!
The Fuel Tank Surprise
Was ready to close tabs when realized… nobody listed fuel capacity! Checked three sites before one finally showed 4.7 gallons. That’s when comparison chart glitched – specs started bleeding between different bike columns. Like Honda claimed Suzuki’s seat height. Reloaded twice. Said screw it.

Final Workaround
Opened four tabs old school style:
- Honda specs page
- Cycle database
- Bike review site
- Notepad app
Pasted numbers manually into notepad like some caveman:
NX500 vs others
Horsepower: 47 / V-Strom: 25
Cost: $6,899 / KTM390Adv: $6,299

Tank range: 287 miles / CB500X: 306
Highlighted yellow where it loses to competition. Not rocket science but took solid 45 minutes start to finish.
Lessons Learned
Frustrating how every site’s missing at least one crucial spec. My own damn spreadsheet works best for real decisions. Next time I’ll just:
- Steal specs from manufacturer FIRST
- Use comparison sites just for quick peeks
- Ignore price tags until seeing dealer fees
Still better than brochures at least. Now if anyone asks about NX500, I’ll just shove this spreadsheet at them.
