Alright, so I was digging into the history of the Ford Mustang in NASCAR the other day. It’s a pretty cool story. I was trying to figure out when did Ford Mustang win its first race in NASCAR, you know? I mean, it’s an iconic car, right?

Ford Mustangs first NASCAR win: find out when and how it happened in this racing history.

So, I started looking around, checking out some old articles and stuff. Turns out, the Mustang didn’t actually join the big leagues, the NASCAR Cup Series, until 2019. Can you believe that? It had been in other NASCAR series for years, but not in the top tier.

But get this, I found out that way back in the day, on June 25, 1950, a guy named Jimmy Florian won the first ever NASCAR race in a Ford. I guess you could say that was kind of a big deal for Ford in NASCAR, even if it wasn’t a Mustang. That set the stage, you know?

Then, I went a little further down the rabbit hole and learned that NASCAR itself only started on February 15, 1948. Their first race was in Daytona Beach, and guess what? A Ford won that one too! A racer named Red Byron took the checkered flag. Fords were really making a mark early on.

But here’s the kicker – even though Ford had these early wins, it’s actually Chevrolet that’s been killing it in NASCAR lately. As of 2023, they’re the ones with the most wins. Crazy how things change, huh?

Anyway, it looks like Mustang was a winner in other races before the year 1950 was out. But as far as its first win in the NASCAR Cup Series? Well, that didn’t happen until it finally joined the series in 2019. I’m still digging to find out exactly which race that was. I’ll keep you guys posted!
