You know, this Geno Smith trade, it’s got everyone talking. That Geno, he’s been doing okay for the Seattle Seahawks. He was some other guy’s, Wilson, I think, backup before. Now he’s playing more.
They say he’s gonna be in his last season soon. Last season of his deal, you know. Some folks are saying he will get a new deal. Some are saying no. I don’t know about these things.

Geno, he’s got a contract through 2025, I heard. That’s a lot of numbers. Big numbers. He’s getting paid a lot. In 2024, he’s getting, let me see… $12,700,000. That’s just his base pay, like his regular pay. Then there’s a bonus, they call it. Something like a restructure bonus, another big number, $9,600,000.
Then there is another bonus of $200,000. And there are also some number like $26,400,000 and $39,700,000. I don’t understand what they mean. Too complicated. That’s what those young folks said when they were over here the other day. Big money, that Geno Smith. He got a three year deal. Three years!
And they talk about cap hit and dead cap. What is that? Sounds like something bad. Dead cap? Sounds like dead fish. I don’t like the sound of that. These things are too much for me. Cap hit. Dead cap. What does it even mean?
Anyways, they say Geno and the Seahawks ain’t talked about a new contract yet. They’ll talk after the 2024 season, whatever that means. It’s all just a bunch of talk, if you ask me.

He hurt his knee, that Geno Smith. Playing against the Green Bay Packers. Packers, that’s what they call them. Couldn’t even finish the game. But he says he’s gonna play against the Vikings. Another team, I guess. These teams, they have funny names.
He’s a tough one, that Geno. Playing with a hurt knee. I remember when my old man hurt his knee. He was out for weeks. Couldn’t even milk the cow.

This Geno Smith trade talk, I don’t know. Will they trade him? Won’t they? Who knows. They trade players like we trade chickens. One day they’re here, the next day they’re gone. He got a big contract, so maybe they won’t trade him. He’s doing good. I heard he is good.
But that’s the way it is with these things. You never know. One minute you’re up, the next minute you’re down. Like my old rooster, Bartholomew. He was the king of the coop one day, then the next day, the fox got him. That’s life.
They say the Seahawks like him. They say he’s a good leader. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds good. Like a good shepherd leading his flock. Maybe they will give him a new deal. Maybe a good deal. More money.
They got other players too, I guess. I don’t know them, just that Geno Smith. But they got to think about the whole team, not just one player. Like when you’re making a stew, you got to have all the ingredients, not just the meat. You need potatoes, carrots. Everything.
