Alright, so today I messed around with recording some “friendly match” results. Nothing too fancy, but I wanted a simple way to keep track of how these games went.

First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. Yeah, I’m old school like that sometimes. I just wanted to jot down the basics as the games were happening.

Then, I played a few matches with my buddies. We had a mix of everything – some FIFA, a bit of Mario Kart, and even some old-school board games. It was all just for fun, no serious competition or anything.

As we played, I scribbled down who played against who, and what the final score was. For example:

  • Mike vs. Sarah – FIFA: 3-1
  • Tom vs. Lisa vs. Me – Mario Kart: 2nd, 3rd, 1st (woohoo!)
  • Group – Catan: Sarah won (she always does!)

After each game, I just made a quick note of the results. No complicated formulas or anything, just the basics. The important thing was to have a record, no matter how messy.

Keeping it Simple

After we were all done, I looked over my notes. It was a bit of a scramble, but I could easily see who won what.

My final step was to enter the match records into the Notes app, categorized by player ranking, and the record-keeping task was over!

I know it’s not the most sophisticated system, it’s not stored into any computer, but it works for me! It’s just a fun way to remember our friendly competitions. Maybe someday I’ll make a fancy spreadsheet or something, but for now, pen and paper (and Notes) do the trick.
