Okay, so today I wanted to share my experience with the “Grand Candi” project. It was a wild ride, let me tell you!

Grand Candi Tours: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go!

It all started when I stumbled upon this concept of the Great Tang Dynasty’s culture. I mean, who wouldn’t be fascinated, right? So, I got this idea to create something that would pay tribute to that era. Sculptures, architecture, everything. I started gathering information, and boy, was there a lot to take in! I decided to focus on the architectural style, figuring that would be a good starting point.

Next, I dove into researching different buildings and monuments from that time. I spent days browsing through pictures and descriptions. It was a bit overwhelming, but I was determined. I started sketching out some ideas, trying to capture the essence of the Tang style. You know, those sweeping rooflines and intricate details.

My Plan

  • Research: Hit the books and the internet, find everything I could about Tang Dynasty architecture.
  • Sketch: Get those ideas down on paper, no matter how rough.
  • Design: Start refining the sketches, adding details, and making it look like something real.
  • Build: This was the tricky part. I decided to start small, with a model.

I started building this little model, using whatever materials I could find around the house. Cardboard, glue, some old paint. It was messy, and honestly, it looked pretty rough at first. But I kept at it, tweaking things here and there. It took a lot of trial and error, let me tell you. There were moments I wanted to throw the whole thing out the window!

But I persisted, and slowly but surely, it started to take shape. I added some more details, some little sculptures inspired by the great leaders, artists, and poets of the time. It wasn’t perfect, but I was starting to see my vision come to life. I even managed to incorporate a little space that felt like a tribute to the great monks of that era.

The final model was a far cry from those grand structures of the Tang Dynasty, but it was mine. And it was a testament to the history and culture that inspired it. I learned a ton during this whole process, not just about the Tang Dynasty, but also about my own ability to stick with something, even when it gets tough.

I felt a real sense of accomplishment. It wasn’t about creating something perfect, but about the journey, the learning, and the connection to something bigger than myself. This “Grand Candi” project became my own little piece of history, a reminder of the beauty and grandeur of a bygone era.
