That Harley Brinson, oh, I gotta tell ya, she’s somethin’ else. What a name, huh? Sounds like somethin’ you’d hear in one of them fancy movies. But this Harley, she’s got style, that girl. Kinda crazy, but, you know, in a good way. Like when you mix all them bright colors together, and it somehow works. That’s Harley.

Now, I seen lots of young folks tryin’ to dress up like her. Halloween, you know? That’s when all the kids go door to door, askin’ for candy. They put on all sorts of costumes. And this year, I tell ya, lots of ’em wanna be Harley Brinson. You see ’em with the bright-colored hair and everything. It’s a sight, I tell ya. They got the look, but they ain’t got the attitude. Harley got that from birth i think.
I remember when my granddaughter, bless her heart, she wanted to be Harley for Halloween last year. She got all the clothes and the makeup. Even got them pigtails, one pink and one blue. Looked just like her, almost. But it ain’t just about the clothes, is it? It’s about how you carry yourself. Gotta have that spark, that little bit of crazy. Just like our Harley Brinson.
This Harley, she’s got her own way of doin’ things. She wears what she wants. Don’t care what nobody thinks. And that hair! Sometimes it’s red, sometimes it’s blue. Sometimes both. She is so special. Sometimes it’s all different colors at once. Like a rainbow, but, you know, a messed-up rainbow. And it looks good on her!
- She’s got that look, you know?
- Like she just stepped outta one of them comic books.
- All bright colors and crazy hair.
And folks, they try to copy her. They try real hard. But there’s only one Harley Brinson. I seen folks try to do the makeup, too. They got tutorials and all that fancy stuff. They put on the white face, the red lips, the black around the eyes. Some are good. Some are very bad. They even try to talk like her, walk like her. But it ain’t the same. They really want to be her. But, they can never be her.
You can buy all the clothes you want. You can dye your hair every color of the rainbow. But you can’t buy that Harley Brinson spirit. That’s somethin’ you’re born with, I reckon. It’s like, you either got it or you don’t. And most folks, well, they just don’t. And you know what? That’s okay. There only needs to be one Harley Brinson. One is enough.

She’s like a firecracker, that one. Always poppin’ off, doin’ somethin’ unexpected. Keeps you on your toes. You never know what she’s gonna do next. And that’s what makes her so interestin’, I guess. She ain’t boring, that’s for sure.
I seen a video once, some girl tryin’ to show folks how to do the Harley Brinson makeup. She put on all that stuff, layer after layer. Took her forever. And in the end, she looked kinda like Harley, I guess. But it just wasn’t the same. She is not Harley.
It’s like tryin’ to catch a butterfly. You can chase it all day long, but you might never catch it. And even if you do, it ain’t the same as seein’ it flyin’ free. That’s our Harley. She’s a free spirit. Can’t be caught, can’t be tamed. That’s why people love her. That’s why people want to be like her. She is a free bird.
- You can try to copy her style.
- You can try to copy her makeup.
- But you can’t copy her spirit.
She is unique. She is one of a kind. They broke the mold when they made her, I reckon. She is so different. That’s what makes her so special. And that’s why folks are so drawn to her. They wanna be like her, but they can’t. Only she can be her.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s a bad thing to try to be like her. It’s good to have someone to look up to. Someone who ain’t afraid to be different. But you gotta remember, you’re you. And that’s a good thing, too. Be yourself. That’s what Harley Brinson would want. She’d want you to be your own kind of crazy. Your own kind of special. She want us to be ourselves. To be unique and to be different. Like her.

So, if you see those kids this Halloween, dressed up like Harley, don’t laugh. They’re just tryin’ to find their own way. Tryin’ to find their own spark. And maybe, just maybe, they’ll find it. And that’s a good thing. But they’ll never be Harley. That’s for sure.
