So, today I wanna talk about this place I checked out called the Anchor Bar. It’s over on Hayden Island, right off I-5 at exit 308. I heard some buzz about it being a decent sports bar, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

First thing I did was look it up. Turns out, it’s at 11915 N Center Ave in Portland. Their number is (503) 978-4554 if you wanna give ’em a call. They’re open every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which is pretty convenient. And they’ve got a happy hour from 2 pm to 6 pm – always a plus in my book.
I rolled up and the place definitely has that sports bar vibe. There are 7 big-screen TVs, so you’re not gonna miss any of the action. They even have the NFL ticket, which is great for football fans like me. It is a good place to watch the game.
Here’s what I did:
- Got there around 5 pm – prime happy hour time.
- Grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was friendly enough, and they have a pretty big selection of drinks. They’re apparently known for their 34oz beer mugs, but I wasn’t feeling that ambitious.
- Ordered some food. I went with some classic bar fare, and it was decent. Nothing to write home about, but it hit the spot.
- Watched some of the games that were on. The atmosphere was lively, but not too rowdy.
- Checked out their video lottery. They’ve got a few machines if you’re into that.
I hung out for a couple of hours, just soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying the games. It wasn’t the most exciting place I’ve ever been, but it was a solid spot to chill and watch some sports.
Overall Impression
The Anchor Bar is a pretty standard sports bar. It’s got everything you’d expect – TVs, drinks, food, and a decent crowd. It’s not gonna blow your mind, but if you’re looking for a place to catch a game and grab a beer on Hayden Island, it’s worth checking out. They also serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The happy hour seems to be pretty popular. That’s all I have to share, see ya!
