Okay, so I finally dove into Helldivers 2. I’d heard a lot about it, mostly how brutal the missions can be, so I was a little nervous, to be honest.

First thing I did was jump into the tutorial. Gotta learn the basics, right? It walks you through movement, shooting, calling in Stratagems – you know, the airstrikes, extra weapons, that sort of thing. It seemed simple enough at first, but boy, was I wrong.
After the tutorial, I figured I’d try a solo mission on the easiest difficulty. I mean, how hard could it be, right? I chose a quick mission – something about activating some drills. I picked my loadout: a basic assault rifle, a machine gun Stratagem, and some grenades. Felt pretty good.
I dropped in, and immediately, bugs. Giant, ugly bugs everywhere. I started blasting, trying to remember the controls for calling in the machine gun. I fumbled around, panicked, and got swarmed. Dead. First try, total failure.
Okay, respawn. This time, I was more careful. I placed the machine gun turret before engaging the bugs. Much better. I managed to clear the first wave, activate the first drill… and then more bugs. Bigger bugs. Bugs that spit acid. I threw grenades, I sprayed bullets, I called in another machine gun. It was chaos.
Somehow, I survived long enough to activate all the drills. Now I just had to get to the extraction point. Easy, right? Nope. Even more bugs showed up. I was running low on ammo, my turrets were destroyed, and I was getting overwhelmed.

I called the extraction, two mintues felt like a hour! Then keep running and shooting, finally I got into the ship, and finished the mission.
So, that was my first real taste of Helldivers 2 missions. It was intense, frustrating, and honestly, pretty awesome. Even though I died a bunch, I learned something each time. I definitely need to practice more with the Stratagems, and maybe try playing with other people. Solo is tough!
