Man what a day yesterday. Had this itch to know exactly how fast my little Honda CRF 110 could really go. Not just guessing, actually getting out there with tools and finding out.

Getting My Tools Ready
First thing I gotta get my gear together. Went down to the garage early Saturday. Dug out that GPS receiver I got somewhere. You know, the one for tracking rides. Never really used it for top speed though. Charged the battery full before heading out. Don’t wanna run out midway. Grabbed my phone too for recording.
Finding the Spot
Finding a decent place was harder than I thought. My street? Nah, too many cars coming and going. Remembered this old back road near the fields – farmer Brown hardly uses it. Drove over there, looked pretty quiet. Straight shot, about maybe half a mile? Should be plenty. Parked the truck at one end. Asked the wife to stand way back with a stopwatch just in case.
The First Few Tries
Kicked the CRF to life, sounds good. Let her warm up a little. Put the GPS on the bar mount. Took a deep breath. First run, baby steps. Rode it easy, got a feel. Twisted the grip a bit more. Got scared, felt squirrelly! Braked early. Checked the GPS. Said 41 mph. Okay okay, faster than I thought but not the top yet.
Dead GPS Drama
Went for run two, pushed harder. This time leaned forward. Eyes glued ahead. Wind whipping my face. Felt fast! Came back excited. Looked at the GPS… damn thing shut off! Battery light flashing. How? I just charged it! Maybe the cheap cable. Panicked for a minute. Called over the wife. Her stopwatch showed 44 mph. Decent, but not trusting that thing fully, too slow reaction time.
Fixing It & Getting Serious
- Found an old power bank in the truck glove box
- Plugged the stupid GPS into that
- Checked tire pressure again – looked okay
- Made sure nothing loose on the bike
- Picked a spot farther down the road for a longer run up
Tried again. Real commitment this time. Twisted that grip as far as it would go! Held it wide open. Legs gripping tight, head down. Engine screaming. Felt like forever. Braked hard at the end. Hands were shaking.

The Real Number
Walked back slowly, GPS still blinking. Scrolled through the data… there! Saw the peak number flash on the little screen. 48 mph! Checked it three times. Yeah! Same as the last run’s max. Did it one more time just to be sure. Got 47.5 mph, close enough. So there you have it. Little 110cc screaming its guts out hits 48 mph. Felt like flying on that thing.
Thing is bone stock too. Might change the gears sometime, see if I can squeeze a little more. But for now? Totally happy knowing what this pocket rocket can actually do. Felt good to just get out and test it myself.
