My Day with the NASCAR Clash and… Rain

So, I was all geared up for the NASCAR Clash. Got my tickets way early, planned the whole thing out. Really looking forward to seeing those cars battle it out in the Coliseum. It just sounded cool, you know? Different.

How did the nascar clash rain affect the race? We break down the postponement and new start time.

Got there on the day, and honestly, the sky looked kinda iffy. You know that gray that just hangs there? Yeah, that kind. But you hope for the best. Found my seat, the buzz was starting to build. People were excited, lots of energy. You could almost smell the racing fuel, or maybe that was just wishful thinking.

We saw some practice laps, maybe? Things were happening on track anyway. Then, like clockwork, just as things were supposed to really get going… drops. Just a few at first. Everyone kinda looked up, groaned a little. You always think, “Ah, it’ll pass.”

Well, it didn’t pass. It went from drops to a proper drizzle, then just steady rain. Not a downpour, but enough to make the track slick and impossible for those cars. You saw the covers come out, the big jet dryers starting to roll. That’s when you know you’re in for a wait.

Waiting Game Begins

And wait we did. Sat there watching the crews try to dry the track. It’s kinda fascinating for about ten minutes, then it just gets old. You check your phone, chat with the folks next to you. Everyone’s got the same look – hoping, but kinda knowing it’s not looking good.

  • Checked the weather app like 50 times. Useless.
  • Saw fans starting to leave. Can’t blame them.
  • Just kept watching those dryers go round and round.

The atmosphere definitely changed. Went from excited buzz to damp disappointment. It wasn’t cold, just wet and annoying. You spend all this time and money to get there, and you end up watching puddles form.

Then came the announcement. They were gonna postpone it, push it earlier, something like that. Honestly, the details got fuzzy because I was just bummed out. All that anticipation kinda fizzled out. Packed up my slightly damp self and headed out with the rest of the crowd.

It is what it is, right? Can’t control the weather. Just wish it hadn’t happened for the Clash. Ended up watching the rescheduled race on TV, which isn’t the same. You miss the noise, the feeling of being there. Oh well. Maybe next year the weather will play nice. You just gotta roll with it sometimes, even when it rains on your race day.
