Okay, so yesterday I was messing around on Snapchat, right? And I suddenly needed to figure out how to check someone’s birthday. Not for anything creepy, I swear! A friend of mine was being all mysterious about their age, and I was just curious.
First things first, I opened up Snapchat on my phone. Obvious, I know, but gotta start somewhere. I swiped right to get to the chat screen, where all my conversations are listed.
Then, I scrolled through my contacts until I found the friend whose birthday I was trying to sniff out. I tapped on their name to open our chat window.
Now, this is where it got a little tricky. I tapped on their Bitmoji or profile icon at the top of the chat screen. This usually takes you to their profile.
On their profile, I looked around for a birthday cake icon. This is the telltale sign that Snapchat knows it’s their birthday. If you see the cake, bingo! You know it’s their birthday today.
But here’s the thing: Snapchat only shows the cake icon on their actual birthday. So, if you’re trying to find out their birthday on any other day, you’re outta luck using this method. I didn’t see the cake, so I had to dig deeper.
Next, I remembered the friendship profiles. If you’ve been friends with someone on Snapchat for a while, you might have a friendship profile with them. To access this, go back to their profile (like I mentioned above), and there is three dots on the upper right corner. Click it and you’ll find the options.
I clicked on “See Friendship”. This gave me a little snapshot of our friendship history, like when we became friends and some of our shared snaps. Sadly, no birthday info here either.
So, my last resort was to just ask! Lame, I know, but sometimes the direct approach is the best. I sent them a message saying something like, “Hey, just curious, when’s your birthday?” They actually told me! Crisis averted.
In conclusion:
- Look for the birthday cake icon on their profile on their actual birthday.
- Check your friendship profile (if you have one) for any clues.
- If all else fails, just ask!
