Okay, so yesterday I finally made it out to Huntsville Dragway. I’ve been meaning to go for ages, and it finally happened! First things first, I had to get the car ready. It’s nothing fancy, just my daily driver, but I wanted to make sure everything was good to go.

I checked the tire pressure, topped off the fluids – oil, coolant, the works. Gave it a quick wash, because, you know, gotta look somewhat presentable. Honestly, the prep work was half the fun, just getting my hands dirty and feeling that anticipation building.
Getting There
The drive to the dragway was pretty straightforward. I punched the address into my phone’s GPS and followed the directions. It’s a bit out of the way, which I guess makes sense, you don’t want all that noise and exhaust right in the middle of town.
At the Track
When I arrived, I paid my entry fee – it wasn’t too bad, pretty reasonable for a day of fun. Then I found a spot in the pits and unloaded my stuff. I’m no pro, so I didn’t have a ton of gear, just a few basic tools and a cooler with some drinks and snacks.
- Checked in: Got my wristband and car number.
- Tech inspection: The guys at the track looked over my car, made sure everything was safe and up to their standards. Pretty simple stuff, seatbelt, battery tie-down, no major leaks.
My Runs
I lined up at the starting line, waited for the Christmas tree lights to do their thing, and then floored it! The first run was a bit of a blur, just pure adrenaline. I definitely didn’t get a perfect launch, but it was a blast!
I made a few more runs throughout the day, each time trying to improve my technique a little bit. I played around with my launch, trying to find that sweet spot where the tires would grip without spinning too much. I even talked to some of the other racers, picked up a few tips – everyone was super friendly and willing to share their knowledge.

Wrapping Up
By the end of the day, I was exhausted, but in a good way. I packed up my stuff, loaded everything back into the car, and headed home. I didn’t win any races, I didn’t set any records, but I had an absolute blast. It was just a great day of getting out there, pushing my car a little, and meeting some cool people. I’ll definitely be back!
