Well, let me tell ya, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout that Idaho Potato Bowl thing. Sounds like a big ol’ deal, that one. Back in 2021, seems like it was a real hootenanny! Now, who won that thing again? I can’t rightly recall, but I heard it was a good game.
Who Won That There Potato Game in 2021?
That Idaho Potato Bowl in 2021, that was somethin’ else. It was played on December 21, 2021. Kickoff was at 3:30 p.m, you know, that time of day. They played it on that there TV, ESPN, I think it was. It was the 25th time they done had that game. Imagine that! 25 years of playin’ with potatoes watchin’ over ’em. It was the Kent State Golden Flashes against the Wyoming Cowboys. And that Wyoming, they won the game.
They say that game’s been goin’ on for a long time, longest one in the cold weather, even. They had it up there in them Idaho mountains. Must be pretty up there. They say a bunch of different college teams been in it over the years. And some of them boys even went on to play in the big leagues, the NFL. They say 21 of ’em went in the first round of that draft thing. Must be mighty proud of themselves.
What in Tarnation is the Idaho Potato Bowl?
- It’s a football game, that’s what it is! A college football game.
- They play it in the winter, up there in Boise, Idaho.
- They been doin’ it for years and years. Since way back when.
- Lots of folks go to watch it, and they got all kinds of things to do besides just watchin’ the game.
I heard folks talkin’ ’bout how they got more than just the game at this Potato Bowl. They got games you can play, all to do with potatoes, if you can believe it. And a big ol’ potato you can take your picture with. Sounds like fun for the young’uns. They even have some kinda breakfast thing, called the “FCA Breakfast”. Sounds like a whole lot of somethin’ for just a football game, but I reckon folks like it.
Them Wyoming Cowboys Done Good
So, that Wyoming Cowboys team, they won the game in 2021. They musta played real good. I heard one fella, name of Darren Grainger, he threw the ball real far, 257 yards! And he ran with it too, scored two touchdowns that way. Another fella, Freddie Brock, he ran for a long ways too, 276 yards, they said. Broke some kinda record, too. That was good news of Wyoming.
They say Wyoming finished up their season with a real good record after that game. 7 wins and 6 losses, I think it was. That’s pretty good for a bunch of college boys. Kent State, they didn’t do so bad neither, 7 wins and 7 losses. That’s not too shabby, but it ain’t winnin’, is it?
Them Potatoes is a Big Deal
That Idaho Potato Bowl, it’s all about them potatoes, ain’t it? They even named the whole thing after ’em. Must be some mighty fine potatoes up there in Idaho. I reckon if you’re gonna have a football game, might as well have some fun with it, right? And what’s more fun than a big ol’ potato?
I heard they gonna have another one of them Potato Bowl games this year, in December 23, 2024. Same place, that Albertsons Stadium in Boise. If you’re up that way, maybe you can go see it. Take a picture with that big potato. Play some of them potato games. Sounds like a right good time.
Well, I reckon that’s all I know ’bout that Idaho Potato Bowl. It’s a big to-do up there in Idaho. Lots of folks go to see it. And them Wyoming Cowboys, they sure did play a good game back in 2021. Maybe they’ll do it again this year. Who knows? But one thing’s for sure, them potatoes sure are a big deal up there.
