You askin’ ’bout that Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, I heard a thing or two ’bout that place. It’s over in Auburn, and some folks say Opelika too, kinda on the edge, ya know? They got a whole mess of holes to play golf on. Eighteen, I think they said. Lots of green grass and all that. Some big shot magazine, Golf Digest they call it, even said it was a good place. That was back in 2005, a long time ago.

They say it’s a “public” course. Means anybody can go play there, long as you got the money, I reckon. Ain’t like them fancy private clubs where you gotta be somebody special. This one’s for regular folks. They got it on Country Club Drive. The address, 900 Country Club Dr. in Auburn. Sounds kinda fancy, don’t it? But I bet it’s just a regular old golf course.
They got different kinds of grass, too. This one fella, he was talkin’ ’bout “Bermuda” grass in the summer. And then in the winter, they got somethin’ else. A mix, he called it. “Bent” and “Rye,” I think he said. Sounds like a whole lotta trouble to me, just to hit a little ball around. But some folks sure do love their golf.
- 18 holes, that’s a lot of walkin’!
- Got that fancy Golf Digest sayin’ it’s good.
- Public, so anyone can go, I guess.
- Different grass for summer and winter.
- They even got a place to practice your chippin’ and puttin’.
They got a place to practice, too. Somethin’ called a “chipping green” and a “putting green.” Sounds like you just hit the ball a little ways on one, and then try to get it in the hole on the other. Don’t know why you couldn’t just do that on the regular course, but what do I know?
This Indian Pines Golf Course Auburn, it’s been around a while, too. Since 1976, I heard. That’s a long time. Before some of you young folks were even born! Must be doin’ somethin’ right to stay open that long. It’s a good place for Golf Courses.
Some folks say it’s one of the best places to play golf in all of Alabama. One of the best “values,” they say. Means you get a lot for your money, I suppose. I don’t know much ’bout golf prices, but I guess that’s a good thing. Some folks was saying it was a “championship” course. Whatever that means. Probably just means it’s a little harder than usual.

They talkin’ about this Indian Pines Golf Course like it’s somethin’ special. I guess if you like golf, it probably is. Me, I’d rather be sittin’ on the porch, drinkin’ some sweet tea. But hey, to each their own, right? This place in Auburn, Alabama is pretty good I heard. It’s also next to Opelika.
Now, if you really wanna know ’bout this golf course, you best go see for yourself. I’m just tellin’ ya what I heard. Might be good, might not. But if you like hittin’ that little ball around, sounds like it’s worth a try. Just watch out for them gophers! They say the Indian Pines Country Club is good, too.
This whole golf thing, it’s a mystery to me. But folks sure do seem to like it. Spend all day out there in the sun, chasin’ that little ball. And payin’ good money to do it! Guess it takes all kinds to make the world go ’round. This place, Indian Pines Golf Course Auburn, seems like a popular spot, though.
I reckon if you’re in Auburn, or even Opelika, and you got that itch to play some golf, this is the place to go. That Robert Trent Jones fella designed it, whoever that is. They say he’s good. And that Golf Digest magazine sure seemed to think so. Course, that was back in 2005, like I said. Things change. But it’s still there, so it must be alright. Just remember what I said ’bout the gophers! And don’t forget your wallet!
That Indian Pines Golf Course is good. You can try it.
