Alright, so I decided to check out Eagles Landing Golf Course up in MN. Heard a bit about it, figured I’d see what was what. You know how it is, always looking for a new spot to swing the sticks, even if it’s just to see if it’s any different from the last place.

Getting There and First Look

The drive wasn’t too bad. Found the place easy enough. Pulled into the parking lot, and it looked… well, it looked like a golf course. Nothing super fancy, but not run down either. Just a regular spot. I wasn’t expecting Augusta, you know? I just wanted to hit some balls.

Walked into the clubhouse. It was pretty standard. Guy at the counter seemed busy, but he got me sorted out. Paid my greens fee, grabbed a cart. The usual drill. No fuss, which is good sometimes. Other times you wonder if anyone even notices you’re there. This was kinda in between.

Hitting the Links

So, I got out on the course. First few holes, I was just trying to get a feel for the place. The layout was interesting enough. Some holes had a bit of character, made you think a little. Others were pretty straightforward, driver-wedge, that kind of thing.

Condition-wise, it was… okay. Let’s be honest, some spots were better than others.

  • Fairways were mostly fine, a few bare patches here and there, but nothing that really messed with my shots too much.
  • The greens were a bit on the slow side the day I played. Had to really whack the putts to get ’em there. Took me a good six holes to adjust.
  • Bunkers? Well, let’s just say I tried to avoid them. Some looked like they hadn’t seen a rake in a while. But hey, that’s just part of the adventure sometimes, right? Makes you a better sand player, or so they say.

My game was its usual self. A couple of pars that made me feel like a pro, followed by a shank into the woods that brought me right back down to earth. Lost a few balls, found a few. The classic weekend warrior experience. I wasn’t breaking any course records, that’s for sure.

There was this one par 3 over water. Looked simple enough. Put two in the drink. Then I decided to just hit a safe shot to the side, chipped on, two-putted for a triple. That hole got me. It always seems like there’s one hole that just decides to ruin your scorecard, no matter where you play.

After the Round

Finished up my 18. Headed back to the clubhouse. It wasn’t super busy. Thought about grabbing a bite, but just settled for a cold drink. Sat there for a bit, looking out over the course. You know, just reflecting on all the bad shots, and the one or two good ones.

The staff I saw on the way out were doing their thing, cleaning carts, getting ready for the next wave. Nobody really said much. It was just… functional. Get in, play golf, get out.

So, What’s the Verdict?

Look, Eagles Landing is a golf course. You can go there and play golf. It’s not going to blow your mind with pristine conditions or five-star service, at least not when I was there. But it’s a place to play. If you’re in the area and just need to get a round in, it’ll do the job. Would I drive hours out of my way to play it again? Probably not. But if I was nearby? Yeah, maybe. It’s one of those places that just is. And sometimes, that’s all you need.
