Okay, so I decided to dive into the whole March Madness bracket prediction thing this year. I’ve always watched the games, but never really put much effort into filling out a bracket. I figured, why not give it a shot and see how I do? And, of course, what better place to start than with some expert advice? So, I went looking for Jay Bilas’s picks for 2024.
First, I had to find where he actually posts his predictions. I mean, the guy’s all over ESPN, so I figured it would be somewhere on their site. And yep, sure enough, I found a write-up or a video, can’t recall, that I read through. It was helpful to get a sense of his overall strategy and reasoning.
My Bracket Filling Process
Armed with Bilas’s insights, I started my own bracket. Here’s how I went about it:
- Started with the Favorites: I didn’t just blindly follow Bilas. I mean, I looked at the top-seeded teams and thought about their regular season performance. I made my picks for who seemed most likely to advance, at least in the first few rounds.
- Considered Bilas’s Analysis: I went back to his picks and compared them to my initial thoughts. Where he had a different opinion on a particular matchup, I dug a little deeper. Did he have a point about a certain team’s weakness or a potential upset?
- Made Some Tough Calls: There were definitely some games where I just wasn’t sure. I mean, that’s the fun of March Madness, right? The upsets! I ended up going with my gut on a few, and maybe let Bilas’s predictions sway me a bit on others.
- Filled Out the Whole Thing: It took a while, going region by region, game by game. It’s actually kind of a fun process, thinking about all the possible scenarios.
I’m not expecting to win any office pools or anything. This is more about just having some fun and seeing how well I can predict the madness. It’s all just a guessing game, but it’s cool to have a little more knowledge and strategy behind my picks this year. Hopefully, Jay Bilas’s wisdom will help me make some good calls!
